Since Mother's Day was the main event, I think we'll go backwards here and start today with yesterdays festivities…
I love any excuse to celebrate my mom! I call/text her too many times a day which really is never enough! She's my favorite person and I love all that we do together!
We had a great brunch yesterday celebrating Grandma, Mom & my aunts - the food was delicious and the weather was beautiful.
Mom and her now three kids
The whole clan…
It's a treat to be able to celebrate Grandma as well!
We capped off the celebrations with Derek and my cousin, Nick having some scooter races. I always joke that Mom gets the paparazzi pictures on Mother's Day and Steve on Father's Day - sometimes it's just nice to have those posed pictures to keep as memories - but we did grab a quick selfie walking over to watch the scooter races unfold.
One little Miss Stella brought me some flowers for being her "mommy." Derek overheard me telling her how happy I was to have her so it could be another excuse for her daddy to celebrate me too today. I then heard him mumbling in the kitchen yeah, maybe you should take back some of those mean things you said to her last week.
Brunch wasn't until 2:00 yesterday so Derek and I decided to have our own mini brunch before with just some muffins and a small slice of quiche for each of us. We only had some house work to do before the main brunch so we decided a mimosa and bloody mary were in order.
Not sure why we don't do this more often?! As downtime becomes more and more prominent, we just might!
We capped off the night with Golf - we're big Rickie Fowler fans in our house so we were happy with his win (there were also naps for some of us - I'm so glad Derek snapped two of the photos below for me, how nice of Stella to cuddle up right on my head) AND the series finale of Revenge… I can't believe it's over for good!
Flipping backwards now to Saturday…
We indulged in some outside spring cleaning which since we still live on a construction site isn't the easiest but I was pretty happy with our accomplishments.
After a day filled with housework and naps, we headed over to my parents house to drop Stells off for a playdate with Nash while we ran some errands and got a late dinner. We took advantage of the opportunity to snap a picture of the girls of the family.
I decided to give mom her Mother's Day present early because why not?!
These two completely tire each other out every. single time. Such best friends. Stella has THE best time at my parents' house every time she goes… and we do too :)
We had high hopes of finding some flower pots for the entrance of our house but no such luck - we're going to give it another try next weekend.
I was juan happy girl having mexican for dinner, drinking a margarita AND eating outside.
And going all the way back to Friday…
I kicked off the weekend in the best way - a little shopping trip with Mom in which we both got much needed new phone covers amongst some other things. Also a bowl of my favorite, chocolate peanut butter ice cream and re-watching Scandal.
We met up with my parents, brother, aunt and uncle to take in my cousins baseball game before going out for pizza together and having a great night with lots of laughs. It wouldn't be the weekend if we didn't log in some deck time so we finished the night with an outdoor drink.
I said to Derek over the weekend, "I'm having so much fun - I just love being home with nothing to do." He responded with that I say that every weekend we're home lately and asked if I'm going to continue always saying that which I simply said "yes!"
After a hectic few years it's so nice to find a new normal and actually relax and enjoy the weekends and we have another great one in the books now.
