Avalon: Part Two

The tropical storm luckily passed by quicker than expected and parts of Friday afternoon the sun was out so we went down to the pool and let Tatum swim.  Late afternoon we went down to the beach for a bit - it was super windy and the rain was about to start again but we got a little time in.

We had dinner at the hotel that night and called it an early night - we were looking forward to clear sunny skies the next day and a nicer beach day.

Saturday morning we were up early and right onto the beach for a great beach day.  We sat right down by the water for Tatum to play and us to relax.

That afternoon we went over to a friends house for swimming, pizza and ice cream - it was a great way to stay away from the crowds and finish off our getaway.

Avalon

We spent a long weekend down at the shore in Avalon, NJ - it was our first getaway anywhere since the Corona Virus hit.  After countless trips cancelled, we were thrilled to get away.  We got down late afternoon on Wednesday so went right to the beach to let Tatum run and play for a bit.

We got takeout and ate on our balcony for dinner - not the usual for us while being away but with all that's going on right now it worked out great for us.  We snuck out after dinner to grab ice cream and visit with family.

Thursday the sun was out and after a quick outing for donuts, we headed right to the beach late morning.  We had a fantastic family beach day and played until lunchtime then went back for a bit afterwards too.  We finished up the day letting Tatum swim at the pool.

Thursday night was our only night out so we fit in what we could - we had dinner outside, went in a few shops (Tatum picked out his new hat himself) and then played mini golf - a total highlight for our little boy.

Friday morning we slept in and woke up to the tropical storm that was coming up the coast - it looked awful outside!  Luckily late morning the rain eased up - we headed over to Stone Harbor to walk around and browse in the shops, let Tatum pick out a toy and grabbed pizza to bring back for lunch on the balcony.

This & That

Summer is well underway and while some days it doesn't really feel like summer, we're making the most of it and enjoying what we can do.  We get in as many pool days a week as we can and lots of playing outside.

We've taken a break from most of the activities and crafts we'd been doing but Tatum did make a few festive creations ahead of the Fourth of July.

We had an outdoor movie night a few weeks ago in our neighborhood and it was such fun for the kids - Tatum must have had about four cups of popcorn and after sitting nicely for a bit was running all over with his friends.

Most weekends we've been enjoying a wonderful and relaxing time at the lake - lots of sun, swimming for Tatum and family time.

Fourth of July

We had a great Fourth of July weekend - it was nice to finally have some things to do - Friday night we went to our country club's 4th of July party for swimming, bbq-ing and fireworks.

Saturday morning we headed right up to the lake and enjoyed a perfect day on the water.  Tatum is such a little fish and swam all day taking just a quick nap break than back into the water for more swimming and jumping off the dock.

We did classic burgers, dogs and sides for dinner and then watched some more fireworks being shot off over the lake.
