Penn State vs. Pitt

It's the best time of the year!  We did an extra long weekend up in State College this weekend and had our first tailgate of the season.  Since things were quiet we headed up Thursday night and headed right for our favorite Mexican spot in town.  Friday we did some shopping, game day errands and enjoyed lunch downtown before things got busy before other family members started rolling into town.

Saturday we were scheduled for a 3:30 kickoff against Pitt and the weather was perfect so we headed down early for a long tailgate.  We had plenty of family in town and spent a great few hours getting back into the fall tailgating spirit.

A little off my tailgating game - my parents prepped for most of this one (I've already thought of a few things I want to make this weekend after scanning old posts).  We brought down the tailgate grill for hamburgers, hot dogs, baked beans and such.  We munched on an array of appetizers throughout the day - buffalo chicken dip (and guac/salsa), tailgate dip, mozzarella, prosciutto and melon skewers, some little bites and a game day cookie cake from Wegman's.

We walked away with another big win for the second week in a row but still bounced back to the number five slot.  We should still be able to get in a good amount of games this season even with the baby coming - there's only one home game in October which go figure, is just days after he's due.

Another tailgate to plan this weekend... xx

Final Lake Scenes

It's hard to believe that there are only a few days of summer left - we finished up our last "summer" lake weekend even though we'll do an overnight in the fall - it's a wrap on the lazy dock days.  It was a great season with lots of work on the new house and I'm already looking forward to spending even more time up there next summer and with our little boy!

We got up Friday night in time to relax on the porch for happy hour...

The weather all weekend was perfect - in the upper 70's, sunny and a nice breeze.  After a morning walk (and sleeping in!), Stella and I joined everyone on the dock for a full day in the sun - we even packed up lunch to bring down.  Boating, swimming, floating, laying in the sun - it was the best day - I don't think I went back up to the house until after 5 or so.

We kept it easy for the last weekend and did appetizers on the porch before going back down by the dock for a fire since it got so cool at night.  The boys all stayed up late for the big fight and the girls happily went to bed early.

Sunday was just the same as Saturday and much talking about our next season... football season! In a week or so we'll transition from lake weekends to Penn State weekends and we all couldn't be more excited.

These two will definitely be the most sad that the season is over - they swim and play so hard up there and just love it...

Until next summer...

Long Lake Weekend

It's already the second day in August - how did this summer go so fast?? It's hard to believe there's just one month left of summer - that means two more lake weekends until we switch gears into fall days, tailgates and baby!

Last Thursday evening we headed up to the lake and we didn't come home until Monday evening - it was our big/long stay of the season.  With lots of people we had a variety of cooks and different dinners - pulled pork night, Italian night, Mexican night and the highlight was a big seafood broil on Saturday night with everyone.

After a few hours down by the fire watching the broil cook, everyone spent the rest of the night out on the porch enjoying the product which was quite the success.

The weather was overcast the first two days which brought much cooler temperatures than we're used to making for great porch time and time around the fire pit.

The second two days were nice and sunny - perfect for the dock, boat and jet ski. Stella always barks and wants to come in the water while we float yet won't do it on her own so we got her a little float and tried it out this time.

A full dock day was the perfect way to spend a Monday and start the week - hopefully will make the week go by quicker now!

Lake Life

I always love spending the Fourth of July at home, but the weekend before at the lake.  With a busy June this was our first two night stay of the season so we were really able to settle in and relax.  Everyone was there in time for dinner on Saturday so we enjoyed appetizers on the under construction porch (should be ready for us next time!)

Since switching lake houses late last season we've had a lot of work to do setting this one up but finally the work is slowing down so other than a few things Sunday morning - the rest of the day was spent on the dock.  It was a perfect lake weather day.

Occasionally we'll do happy hour down on the dock so that we did before enjoying a salad bar for dinner and having some other family members over later.

Stella is giving "Lovie" practice for the baby already - she can't stand to be able to see us outside and not get to us - this picture of her paws propped up on the window with my mom showing here where we were cracks me up.

Have a good weekend! xx
