February House Update

This week puts us three months out from moving day - we've got an official closing date and are excited to get the move out of the way before the summer starts.  Our neighborhood has a pool so that's a huge plus to enjoy over the summer.

This month they did all our electrical work and the "boring" stuff as I called it - since when we did our once/twice a week visits there was never anything fun to see, ha!

Last week they did the insulation and got sheet rock up to start making the walls and in preparation to do the dry wall.  On our Saturday morning stop we noticed the stone for some of the outside of the house sitting out front so that should be going up in a few weeks too.

Have a good week! xx

Loving: Black & White

Happy Weekend! I can't say I even minded this week too much because the weather was so nice - the high is 70 today - we definitely need to try to find somewhere to dine al fresco tonight.  We've got a full weekend ahead and lots of family/friends to see at a few different events.

Black and white is always a classic combo and perfect for the season transition.  This off the shoulder top will be perfect for those in between days and this satchel is classic for spring into summer.  I always take out my tassel earrings more often in the warmer weather and it's for sure the season for sunglasses.  My other favorites below...

Cheers to the weekend! Enjoy! xx

New York Snapshots

Derek has off today so we took advantage of a free weekend and went to New York for a quick overnight over the weekend to see some friends and relax.

We got into the city just in time to meet friends at The Sugar Factory for lunch - they have the best (sugary) drinks there.  We tried to go to that new popular Cookie Do (dough) place afterwards and the wait was over an hour long!

We always like to stay at Derek's old hotel when in town so we checked in and then headed off to walk through central park - with no coats since the weather was so nice and do a little shopping.

We went out for a steak dinner and then enjoyed the wood burning fireplace in the room before calling it a night.

Cheers to a new week! xx

Loving: Pom & Tassel

Happy Friday!  Monday will be here before we know it, I'm sure, but for now I'm going to enjoy the excitement of a full weekend ahead.  I haven't quite started my spring clothes shopping yet - but maybe on Monday as I'm sure there will be sales.  I have spent some quiet, cold nights in browsing all the bright, pom, tassel accessories.  You can never start stocking up on them too early as a lot of the good ones always sell out!  We're getting our spring travel schedule together and it's always fun to have some cute accessories in the suitcase.

I'm matchy matchy so I love both the pom necklace and bracelet.  The tassel earrings are another favorite because they'd go with so many outfits - look at all those colors.  This tote and this hat are perfect for a day at the beach.  Now, if spring would just hurry up!!!

Cheers to the weekend! xx

Looks & Life Lately

Family time.  Can spring hurry up already?? I'm loving that each night it's a smidge lighter than the night before but we're still battling the winter laziness over here.

Last Thursday we had our first snow day of the year! We were both home from work, did the classic grilled cheese/tomato soup for lunch and enjoyed the break in the week.

Loving all the fresh flowers and displays that are out and about for Valentine's Day recently - everything is so festive and pretty.

My mom invited us all over and cooked us a delicious meal to celebrate Valentine's Day early - the food was fantastic and she had the table set so cute with a little treat for everyone.

And of course, last night we celebrated - very simply.  Pizza and catching up on our DVR shows - the perfect relaxing Tuesday night.  Chocolate covered strawberries with some more chocolate treats (that were dug into pretty quickly) made their way home with Derek while he got a tower of his favorite beer - simple and easy! We'll probably go out somewhere this weekend but this was a great weeknight treat.  Derek and my stepdad both sent over flowers and I love having the fresh blooms around to brighten up the house.  Of course I had to celebrate my galentine, Stella, with a few new pink toys.

Palm Beach (Continued)

Today I'm finishing up sharing about our recent quick getaway to Palm Beach (first part here).  We enjoyed cocktails and appetizers on the Flagler Club patio after enjoying the sun.

Dinner for our second night was at our favorite in Palm Beach - Flagler's Steakhouse.  We sat on the patio and left completely stuffed.

For our final full day we spent the morning apart - Derek on the golf course and me at the spa.  If you look between the palm trees, that's him below.  He called me to come out to the patio on our floor once he hit the holes close to the hotel.

We met up and walked over to Nick and Johnnie's for some delicious salads for lunch.

First to the beach for a while then to the pool for the rest of the day including happy hour.  The weather was great for our entire stay but today's was definitely the best - we stayed out as long as we could.

We cancelled our dinner plans that night to enjoy a low key night at the hotel instead.  After the usual appetizer display of the night we just headed downstairs for the most delicious sliders and fries at the bar area at the Seafood Bar.

We had a little bit of time on our final day before we left to grab some breakfast, head down to the pool and get a final walk in.

Until next time! xx

Loving: Cozy Weekends at Home

Happy Friday!  We both had a snow day yesterday which was the best to make it through this dragging week.  Sleeping in, grilled cheese for lunch, dinner in the crockpot, DVR catchup - it was quite the relaxing day.

In the winters I'm a huge fan of spending one weekend night at home sometimes - it's so cozy, relaxing and refreshing.  With the temperatures we're having right now - staying in sounds even more fantastic.  I'm all for a good night out with friends or a date night but I can get just as excited about a night with no plans too.

Favorite reasons to stay home on a weekend night...

Get cozy... Who doesn't love throwing on your pajamas and a nice robe instead of getting dressed up sometimes - no makeup, no hair curling, just casual.  We are pretty much always in cozy attire when we're home.

Pampering... Throw on a face mask, take a bath, do your nails - these are a few of the best "at home" activities.

Wine... There's nothing like pouring a nice glass of wine (or a few) and kicking your  feet up on your own couch.

Make it a date... We enjoy making dinner together - on the weekends if at home, we'd do a meal that takes a little more effort to make (our weeknight meals are always quick and easy!).  You could even use the wine flight above to have your very own wine tasting together.

Catchup... Catch up with your husband/fiancé/boyfriend - sometimes there just aren't enough hours in a week dealing with crazy schedules and such.  Catch up on that overflowing DVR (my favorite!) Catch up on that book that always gets put on the bottom of the list.  Catch up on scrolling through Pinterest.

Hit the refresh button... Sleep! Go to bed early, take a nap, sleep in - there is nothing like waking up on the weekend feeling refreshed and ready for the day.

Happy weekend! Cheers! xx

Palm Beach

A couple weeks ago Derek and I took a quick trip down to Palm Beach to escape the cold and enjoy some warm weather for a few days.  The weather was great while we were the - not overly hot but warm enough to lay out. With snow in the forecast for tomorrow, I'm wishing we were back there!  We headed straight to the beach/pool to enjoy our first day there.

We stayed at The Breakers again and just like previous trips it was fantastic.  They had some January escape rates that we took advantage of and even upgraded us to the Flager Club level with everyone being nice as could be.  We had a complimentary happy hour each night that we loved taking advantage of.

For our first dinner we went back to one of our favorites, The Seafood Bar.  It's nice because you don't even need to leave the hotel.

I'm always in aw of the actual bar with fish swimming underneath.  The restaurant recently underwent a renovation and everything looked even better than before.

The next morning we started things off with a little shopping along Worth Avenue before going to meet a good friend for lunch.

The lobby is a sight in itself - such a gorgeous setting and I always love the fresh flower display right as you walk in.

The rest of the day was spent out enjoying the sun!  It was a little windy so we opted to enjoy the pool area instead of the beach before a little happy hour to end out the afternoon.
