I think now that spring is here it's causing the weeks to fly by!
I feel like it was just the weekend but I'm SO not complaining that another weekend is here.
{One: April Showers & April Flowers}
It might not quite be time for flowers outside yet here (can't wait to get some/plant for the first time at the new house) but it sure is time for flowers inside. We had three separate vases going this week. I got two bouquets of tulips last weekend at the grocery store and I am really loving looking at them. I think they are about to bloom this weekend. Flowers sure can brighten a home.
The April showers have started right on cue. I love my Burberry and plain black Hunter rain boots but this week I broke out my brightest (and cheapest) pair from Target for the first time.
It's my first time wearing them because...
last September the week of the wedding there was a chance of rain in the forecast for the wedding day. What does any bride do when they see rain on their big day? Order matching rain boots for all the girls of course!
We actually didn't end up needing the rain boots because there was only a little rain shower which fell between the ceremony and reception, basically for the ride to the reception venue (we were still able to get outdoor photos!). It's a really great thing we didn't need them because only HALF the shipment came in on time. The other half came the Monday after the wedding. So one of the first things I did after the honeymoon was go into Target with an armful of boots to return - my mom and I kept ours though and when I put these little guys on the little wedding memory pops back to me.
*Also, I don't have a crazy fashion sense - I took this when I was still in my gym pants*
{Two: Rain Shower Mean Naps}
Sticking with the April showers note - other than one glorious beautiful day, we've had some super chilly, rainy, gloomy days this week! Where did spring go?!?
Two days in a row Derek came home to find both his girls passed out - me on the couch and Stella under it. I only ended up sleeping for about a half hour each day but gosh - those naps did the trick and refueled my energy for the rest of the night.
Also, two nights in a row Derek had to put dinner in the oven because of said naps :)
{Three: Tuckernuck Tote}
I waited patiently and patiently for this tote to become available. I think around Christmas it was sold out and then a month or so ago was when it came back into stock and I may or may not have ordered it on that exact day. Anyway, I used it for the first time recently and in addition to it being perfectly cute, it's HUGE! You can fit so much in there whether it's a weekend trip or just an over night.
I'm pretty sure you can still get 10% off your order if it's your first time to the site.
{Four: Cameron Cooks}
I'm pretty sure nobody is a stranger to Southern Charm and other than Miss Patricia, Cameron is one of my faves for constantly using the terms "hot mess express" and "what am I going to do with you turds." But she REALLY won me over this week when she was cooking faking dinner for her husband. I loved how she heated up dinner and pretended it was real, enjoyed some potatoes off the spatula; basically faked it til she made it.
I always think about my housewife skills mainly cooking and think hm, my mom (and that whole generation of ladies) probably never cooked this poorly when she was a newlywed, ha!
{Five: Deck Furniture}
We are officially ready for summer at Casa de Sotherden; we've picked out our deck furniture and it has been delivered. I walked downstairs recently to find this series of events. Cushions everywhere and lots of work going on - I guess we didn't read the fine print about assembly required. No worries, it's all stashed in the basement and ready to be put out on "the oasis" as we like to call it.
I love all the flowers April showers bring. People may complain about the rain all the time, but this time of year I just look at is as more flowers to come. I love having flowers in vases, how awesome you had three going on at once.
ReplyDeleteThat tote is amazing, definitely NOT a hot mess express ;)
I'm so excited for April flowers...the shower not so much but I don't mind a good nap, especially when there's a puppy involved--those are the best naps ever! :) I just don't want rain on my weekends :) Love that tote that you got, and I adore Cameron (she's definitely my favorite on the show--her comments are hysterical). YAY for new patio furniture!!! :)

ReplyDeleteLove your tulips! I'm loving all the spring flowers that are blooming right now, there are a ridiculous amount of azalea bushes in Charleston that are fully bloomed - it really is the perfect intro to warmer weather. Happy weekend!

Love your rain boots, perfect for all the April showers :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday!
Cameron is totally my favorite, along with Whitney's mother, too! Girlfriend knows her strengths and weaknesses and makes it work. I love everything she says and may need to start calling people turds as well. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love your rain boots and that is such a cute memory!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the rain boots! So fun! I need Target to carry those again this season so I can grab a pair. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness this post makes me feel so springy! The flowers! The outdoor furniture. I love it.
ReplyDeleteI am all about spring flowers and have had to fight the urge to buy tulips every time I'm at the grocery store!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers! I love tulips! Our grocery store had a bunch of flowers on clearance earlier this week so I was able to pick up a pot of mums and azaleas for only a few dollars. They make the house so happy!
ReplyDeleteStella is so cute!
We have had so much rain here, which hopefully means the flowers are following soon! Love those gorgeous tulips & the rainboots are so cute- what a great idea for your wedding just in case-- glad you didn't end up needing to use them though!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to buy rain boots for your bridal party - even if it ended up not working out! And I love the tote and peek of your new deck furniture. Where did you get it? We've been looking for new furniture for our deck but haven't had much luck so far.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea on the rainboots! Naps are seriously the best... I used to take a nap everyday after high school lol I am DYING over your weekender! So so so cute! Enjoy the new patio furniture :)
ReplyDeleteI cannot handle the cuteness that is Stella! I'd never be able to leave the couch if I had her snuggling next to me! I love Cameran from Southern Charm too (though, also, second after Patricia - she's basically my idol!). Hope you have a great weekend! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI love those rain boots, I'm ashamed to admit I do not own a single pair! Must run to target and change that!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful week! Love the flowers!! I have tulips blooming at my house! I love the signs of SPRING!
