What a great Fourth of July we had this year! After a few clouds Friday morning - the weather was the best we've had this summer! Loads of sun, no humidity, chilly at night = perfection!
We spent the holiday weekend up at the lake and it was just what we needed - fun, low key, great family time, great memories and mostly.. r e l a x i n g !!!
{Our Sweet Little Lake}
I mean, pure bliss
The ride up to the lake is beautiful! Never any traffic - other than maybe a horse and buggy ;)
Derek and I stopped at Musser's {traditional stop} on the way up for some necessities and some favorites
First stop when we arrived… make the clam dip!
My beloved dirt from musser's - so good!
{Friday on the Lake}
Then we headed right down to the dock
Mom did a little bronzing up in the main yard and the walkway down to the dock
A great and relaxing Fourth of July afternoon
Ready for a day in the sun!
Heading out to the rock… and he made it!!
Time to cool off!
Pure heaven for him
Just two months and two days before we say, "i do"
Nash could play in the lake for hours!
A little wedding reading
{Friday Night - Fourth of July Celebrations}
One of the best parts of the lake is the happy hour and cocktail hours - that last well beyond dark! This is just the start of the appetizers - I was too busy eating them and drinking my margarita to get the rest but we had a TON of deliciousness
Margarita Crew
After many failed attempts I FINALLY learned how to rim the glass with salt - by rubbing a lime around it first!
Making my mexican dip
While we were getting the appetizers ready - the boys were out on the front lawn golfing and playing corn hole
Waiting for our boat pickup
We took a great booze cruise around the lake after cocktail/happy hour
Captain Cale
One of the other engaged couples in the family {we have three!}
Back of the boat
Front of the boat
Just a couple of brother in laws in the sunset
So relaxing!
Fun Fact: Uncle Jeff used to be Andi's {the bachelorette} softball coach so we thought we'd reach out - she did not write me back :-(
When we got back we finally had some more room for dinner - hot dogs, of course {it was Fourth of July} and this cookie cake for dessert which was finished probably in under 10 minutes!
The three of us walked down to the stairs to watch the fireworks going off on the lake
Porch time is the best time
Somebody really wanted a hot dog - and got one, of course
I'm always outnumbered!!
We had tumblers for each of their schools - except ours of course - so Derek used Arizona since I almost went there
Mom caught me on my way down from the "orphanage"
We went for a walk Saturday morning and Nash took himself down to cool off
{Saturday on the Lake}
a little photo session before we got the day underway
Mom captured some great moments
My screams were heard up at the house.. and probably all over the lake when Derek tried to throw me in
Nash with one of his three playmates
Life on the lake
Some guests came by to join us
Nash with another one of his playmates
.. and another
for a cooler weekend - the water was surprisingly warm
The white booie out there is to mark the big rock so the boats don't hit it - we swim out to it for fun a lot and poor Nash kept thinking it was a treat for him - every time he would try to swim out to it we would distract him and throw his toy in - one time he was actually crying on the dock, pacing and staring at it for about five minutes - until finally he ran into the lake and headed out for it - I threw him his toy, he grabbed it and kept right on going that time he was determined! Finally he got close enough and realized it wasn't for him and came back :)
exhausted!
More on our Fourth of July celebrations with our PCC Extravaganza will be up on Thursday...
