Travel Thursday: "Catching Up" Bahamas Cruise 2013

Last July we did a weekend cruise and headed down to the Bahamas, but first we stopped in Miami for an overnight.

Day One: Thursday, July 11th - Miami, FL
We were up at 4:45am and Florida bound bright and early!
We went right to the Z Ocean Hotel to drop our stuff off and then explored by the beach, Ocean Drive (passed the Versace Mansion) and then spent the afternoon at the Cleavlander.
We loved our room - Our friend used to work at the hotel so he recommended it to us. A lot of the rooms have private rooftop patios attached to the room so we enjoyed ours the one day we were there.

Day Two: Friday, July 15th - Miami, FL
We got some breakfast at the Front Porch Café and then went over to get on the cruise ship and enjoy it for the day while we were docked in Miami.
We spent most of the day by the pool
 Exploring the ship
Miami Vice's, the drink of the day
About ready for the ship to depart

Ready for dining in the dining room on the first night
Watching a thunderstorm from the Viking Crown Lounge
Wining big in the casino
With the winnings
Ending up the first day on the ship and sailing down to the Bahamas.

Day Three: Saturday, July 13th - CocoCay, Bahamas

We had a lazy beach day on Royal Caribbean's private island, CocoCay
Starting with our massages in the huts on the beach

It was formal night in the dining room this night
Someone got very into the parade of the waiters.

Day Four: Sunday, July 14th - Nassau, Bahamas

We were the very first ones off the ship and ready to explore.
 Sparta in the Bahamas
The worst decision of my life. Had me in tears
Our scooter seemed fun, until it was time to get on it.  It's very scary hanging on from the back of that thing, especially going over the very large bridge to get to the Atlantis

We ended up returning the scooter and taking a taxi over after we couldn't figure out how to park the scooter.

Exploring the Atlantis.  It was fun for the day, but we probably won't go back.  Between the amount of people staying at the resort and the amount of people with day passes like us, it was crowded!
Going in to swim with the dolphins

Swimming with the dolphins was a blast.
Enjoying our balcony for a drink before dinner
 In our coordinating outfits

The next day we got off the ship, explored Miami for a little and then headed home!

  1. Hi Christina! I was just snooping around on your travel tab and came across this post... What cruise line did you guys go on and did you like cruising? My husband and I want to go on a little getaway and I like to know as much info as I can about trips before talking to him about it lol
The idea of cruises sounds so fun, but the big boat and potential sea sickness makes me sketchy!
PS - I could use one of those Miami Vice's right now!! omg yum!!
