We got home yesterday from our last football weekend in State College as it was Penn State's last home game of the season. We we're hoping to be undefeated at home but after rocky second half on Saturday that won't be happening it was a tough loss. However, the sky was clear, the sun was out and the temperature was low - many layers were needed but it was prefect conditions for a final football Saturday.
It's been a great season with many fun tailgates. We're still coming back from the sanctions in 2012 and even though it's tough, each season there's improvement to get back to where we used to be. Looking forward to next week against Michigan State (wahoo someone finally took down Ohio State) and the bowl game. We'll be back up for the spring game before we know it and in the meantime take a few trips back up for hockey game weekends.
With Ohio State/Michigan State getting the Game Day game and playing at 3:30 that assured us a noon time-slot making for a breakfast tailgate…
bloody marys
mimosa bar
breakfast casserole
monkey bread
fruit
chips and dip
game day pretzels
This was the first game all season (and actually in at least a year or two) that it was just the five of us for the tailgate and game.
Michigan was in town for the weekend. It was a solid first half and we went into half time only trailing by 4 and then things just sort of unraveled in the second half. It was also our "white out" game - the first ever in history that didn't end up being a night game.
It was a cold weekend in State College. Like 27 degrees on our morning walks cold - it hasn't been that chilly at home yet so it was an adjustment. Other than the game there was lots of time by the fireplace lounging, football game watching, and a couple dinners out. We went to the cutest little tavern, Duffy's Tavern, for dinner after the game and it was the perfect winter spot - a cozy little place.
Downtown State College had been decorated for Christmas so we had a good time riding through town looking at the lights before calling it an early night on Saturday. The call time for those early game tailgates can wipe you out for the day.
The short holiday week is upon us and Thanksgiving will be here before we know it. This $325 Nordsttrom gift card will also be over soon too. Don't forget to enter - the giveaway runs through Wednesday.
