I know, I know, I'm diving into the Christmas posts before I've even mentioned Thanksgiving. But, don't you worry after this I'm holding off on Christmas until post Thanksgiving… I think :)
(There will also still be plenty of Thanksgiving recipe ideas and decor setups to come - don't think I skipped over that holiday and forgot).
Why am I searching for Christmas decor now? Because we're decorating at Casa de Sotherden in just a couple weeks ago so we don't have to worry about it Thanksgiving week (don't worry we don't host - we aren't serving turkey under the Christmas tree… not that there is a single thing wrong with that!) and the house is festive/ready to go when we get back!
It all began with a search for candy cane ornaments like my mom uses on our home tree (amongst others) and then I realized one of my favorite stores, Sur La Table, has some of the cutest holiday items. Too good not to share…
reindeer candle holder (companion here) // paper straws // appetizer plates set // snowflake tealight candles // marshmallow drink topper // plaid napkin set // raindeer napkin ring // let it snow garland
The plaid napkins, runner and appetizers plates are in my shopping cart with the candy cane ornaments (the reason for the searching) and I've got a great tablescape in mind for this year. My mom started a Spode collection for us last year which I'm in love with but if your in need of some Christmas plates they have some great options.
Other Happenings:
+ The Kansas City Royals proved they were the team meant to win the World Series closing out the series quickly (Sorry, Derek!) BUT in college I interned for one of the Royals' minor league teams - the Wilmington Blue Rocks and got to watch some players get their starts the year I was there, including a now very well known, Eric Hosmer.
+ For the fellow "Friends" lovers out there - would you have noticed these filming mistakes? Speaking of, it's about time to pull out all my Friends DVD's and watch each of the Thanksgiving episodes in order. I like to do it every year, tis the season.
+ 10% of the population has a gene that makes them ultra sensitive - HSP (highly sensitive person). Derek and I both think I'm most definitely in that 10%. (and yes, yes I did learn about this from Ladies of London. I'm also about four episodes behind).
+ I can't quite bring myself to watch Christmas movies yet, although I'm thrilled that Hallmark chanel is already running them - I'm storing them up in my DVR and saving them for a few weeks. Leading me to my last point… Seven Weeks until Christmas!
Linking up today with the Friday linkups -

I'm one of those people that won't listen to Christmas music or decorate for Christmas until after thanksgiving but that didn't stop me from already shopping for decorations! I think that I've decided that everything in our house will be reindeer themed so I might have to check those reindeer out at Sur la table!

I have to confess that we already have Christmas decorations up in our house, but I got SO excited being able to decorate for the first time. And we haven't forgotten about Thanksgiving either, we're going to visit family out of state then, so I figured why not enjoy it longer. :)
