It's been months and months since I did a 'Five on Friday' so I thought today I'd switch it up and do this instead of what I've been loving this week...
{One} Time Out
I love this little space, I'm amazed at how it's grown but I think it might be time for a break a couple times a week. I love posting, I have plenty of ideas - it's just finding the time. Keeping up with getting posts together/emails/keeping up with comments is getting to be a little bit much and some days I'd just rather be relaxing/enjoying the nice weather with my little family/etc. Many weeks it will still be a daily post but I also wouldn't be surprised if it's just 3-4 times a week now.
{Two} Newport Beach / Laguna Beach / The OC
I've mentioned before that we make an annual trip to California each summer. We always stop in Beverly Hills and also try to do something new. This year we're adding in "The OC" {Newport/Laguna Beach} for a couple days as the new part for this year {last time I was there was during the LB craze and just HAD to pop by some of the spots from the show - Surf & Sport, Golden Spoon, Surf & Sand hotel} so if anyone has any activity/eating recommendations - send them this way!
{Three} Tennis Dates
I thought it would be fun to try to take up tennis. We went out last weekend and both got rackets and some balls and are ready to play - we're finally finding the time this weekend. I like to be outside as much as possible in the nicer weather so I'm looking forward to hopefully liking this new hobby and getting a little sweat on while doing it.
{Four} Finally Spring
Finally, finally, finally it's starting to look/feel like spring around here. I mean, it snowed last weekend but I think that was our farewell. There's nothing below mid/low 60's in the forecast for over a week and no chance of rain as well - I couldn't be happier that things are finally going to warm up around here. We had our first "sit" on the deck last night - just on the bare furniture (we haven't put the cushions out yet or really set up) but I'll take it!
{Five} Football Time - Blue/White & NFL Release
This weekend is Penn State's spring game - the Blue/White game and I can't wait. We've been up over the winter for a hockey game but it's been too long since our last tailgate. The weather is looking great and I'm ready for a weekend in Happy Valley. The NFL schedule also came out last night and we are busy picking out what weekend to go to Dallas - and maybe to catch a game here.
Well, this was fun - I'll need to do this more often!
Happy weekend, everyone! Cheers!
Linking up today with the Friday linkups -
We try to play tennis when it warms up here as well...it's fun to play together!! Your trip to Cali sounds like it's going to be a blast!! Have a great weekend! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteCam was just asking about tennis yesterday. My husband played, so we will have to teach the kids. I'm not sure it's my thing, but I'd give it a try. Yay for spring. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI love that you picked up pink balls on your tennis shopping trip! So fun that Penn State does a spring game - gives you a little taste to tide you over til the fall. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteYAY for spring finally! The best! And love your work space, it is so cute! I haven't played tennis in forever but I need to get back out there. Happy Friday! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes

Love that you guys are taking up tennis. We did that a couple of years ago and I was actually thinking about it again this past week since the weather is FINALLY supposed to be nice. We have balls and rackets just waiting to be used!
ReplyDeleteSo fun that you have the Cali trip to look forward to! Looks like it'll be a lot of fun!
Have a great weekend--enjoy the weather!!
Good for you for recognizing that you just need to take a step back once in a while - it's definitely necessary! Laguna Beach/Orange County is one of my favorite places in all the U.S. I have no idea what the name of the place is, but there's a local (kind of look likes a dive) food truck/stand on the side of the road in Laguna that has the best fresh albacore tuna that I've ever had. The views also are amazing!
ReplyDeleteHave fun cheering on your favorite team!! Enjoy tennis - it's a fun sport!! I keep forgetting we have courts near our house - we've got to get out and play while it's nice outside :)
ReplyDeleteI have never blogged every day, other than when I did the A to Z challenge, and that was just a month. My mom used to be really into tennis as a teenager. I sadly did not receive those genes haha.
ReplyDeleteThat picture of you and Derek is super cute. :-) My brother-in-law has played tennis since he was little and it's a huge hobby of his. He seriously plays every single day haha. But he and my sister also live in California.. haha. Speaking of, sounds like you have fun trip planned!! I hear you on needing a break sometimes too. Love Stella with the daffodils too. Have a fab weekend! :-)
ReplyDeleteI've never been to California but would love to go soon. I know what you mean with blogging getting a bit overwhelming.. sometimes I have so many ideas, other times it feels like a chore and that's when I know it's time to step back.
ReplyDeleteI love California!! And especially southern CA. And I understand needing a break--some days I haven't blogged simply because I would rather be spending time with my husband--nothing wrong with that!

Totally understand needing a break! When it comes to blogging at night or time with my husband, I choose him! Hope you all have lots of fun playing tennis! My husband and I have talked about trying that out and need to do it. Enjoy your spring game, we're going to my alma mater's this weekend too!

I love you office space! It's so inviting! I'm with ya girl, bring on football season! My fiancee is a coach, so football is 24/7 for us, but I'm personally ready for the game to start :)
ReplyDeleteStella looks adorable among the spring daffodils! Your trip to Cali sounds amazing, and I can't wait to hear your recs on The OC when you return! And I hear ya on keeping up with the blog, it's exhausting to prepare posts and keep up with comments every day. I've also cut back to about 3 posts a week which has been the perfect medium. Enjoy that extra time gurlie <3

I'm with you on taking it easy right now! Most nights when I get home, I just want to enjoy the weather :) Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteGirl, I'm with you on the 3-4 times a week for posting! Sometimes there are plenty of things to post about but there's a lot more real life stuff that gets in the way of it. Enjoy all of your trip planning & the spring football game this weekend!
ReplyDeleteooh i have never been to the OC area but that picture looks amazing. i want to go there! and yay tennis, that sounds like such a fun date idea. have a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteA break/time out is so necessary sometimes! I used to post 5 days a week but cut it down to 3 because I just felt like I was spending all my time with my face in a computer. The change was a good thing!!

Brian has been playing tennis since he was tiny and I played in high school, so before we had babies we used to play together all the time. It's so much fun and it's a really good way to burn calories!
ReplyDeleteAlabama's spring game is tomorrow, too, and I'm going NUTS because I can't be there! Have a great weekend, Christina!
ReplyDeleteI totally know how you feel about trying to stay on top of everything, including comments! It can be so hard, and there never feels like there's enough time in the day! Adding Laguna Beach to your California trip should be so much fun this year! I can't wait to see where you end up going!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy we're finally getting spring weather here as well. How cool to see spots from Laguna Beach, I used to love that show!
ReplyDeleteCan your 5 favorite things just be my favorite things?? Because I love all of these and the images you used to capture them!!! Your desk is soooo adorable. What a nice space.
ReplyDeleteYour work space is adorable! An annual California trip sounds fun and you can try to experience a different thing every time you visit. I'd love to do something like that!
ReplyDeleteThat trip to Cali sounds dreamy. Your office looks great! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I play little tennis for fun. Umm, we're both pretty bad tho. Loving this weather! Hope you had a great weekend!
