Styling: Winter Gear

Well, we made it - halfway through another week.  I'm starting to get a feeling that this whole month of January is going to drag and drag.  Maybe February will be better?  Wishful thinking? I think there might be a slump until daylight savings time.

We haven't had one snow day yet but somehow it's so cold - like 28 degrees today cold.  Walks with Stella have been replaced with extra gym trips and zumba sessions - it's too much out there!  Somehow this chilly weather also makes me so sleepy - all I've done the past two nights when I get home is take a hot bath, put on pj's and curl up under a blanket… or two.

If I forget to link things up (which is quite often - l a z y) I frequently get asked where a clothing item is from, where I shop, etc.  Fashion posts won't be often and I'm certainly no serious fashion blogger (props to you ladies - takes quite a bit of time, effort and planning!) but I would like to throw in a look or two once a twice a month in addition to the normal "looks and life lately" posts (which have been completely slacking on the looks part the whole holiday season… will work on that!)

I saw this Steve Madden Plaid Toggle coat at the mall one day before dinner with Derek (I can be pretty convincing about asking him to "quickly" stop in with a delicious dinner out to follow), thought about it and when I went back - of course it was gone!  Luckily during the Thanksgiving Eve sales I found it online and on sale - win, win.  Even better - it's STILL on sale.  I love the style of the hood on the back and that you can either just toggle or zip it up.

I'm a recent new fan of head wraps and hats - I cannot stand my hair blowing in the wind - well, I like when it blows like Beyonce, but most of the time it's flying everywhere (and it's been quite windy around here) and these little guys totally do the trick.  For the head wraps (these are on sale for under $7! - I have the light pink) I'm only a fan of lighter and brighter colors to contrast with my dark hair - white, tan and pinks are my favorite.  Hats, any colors go - even black works.

coat: nordstrom / white head wrap (nordstrom, still available in store - similar here) / black mittens: similar here / rings: david yurmanstella and dot / tartan scarf: lord & taylor
red cable knit hat: talbots (and on sale now - 65% off)

Also I just found this Loft deal and had to share.  Their head warmer/gloves sets in blue, coral, yellow green, grey - some with matching scarves still too (great for those cold days leading up to spring) on sale + 70% off - you cannot beat that! That makes the head warmer just $7 and the gloves set only $6.  Other scarves/gloves are on sale for either 70% off or now $20 - find them all here.

  5. I love that this coat has a hood because it's so well done! It looks like it could just be one big collar. That will probably come in handy if it's snowing and you want to protect your hair! And I love the black and white

  25. That coat is so adorable, and major score that you found it on sale! I also love head warmers and beanies too! Living in Texas we just don't really have that much cold weather in order to wear them. I guess that means that we need to take a trip to somewhere colder soon!
