Casa de Sotherden at Christmas Time

Similar to yesterday {Full Christmas gift guide with options for everyone - her, him, jet setter, monogram lover, home, dog lover} today is another one of my favorite posts each year - our home holiday decor.  I love having the memory to look back on {and also help me remember where things go} except this year, most things are completely different than the last since we've added on some extras to enhance what we previously had.  This year was so much better than last; getting decor for an entire house at once isn't easy - this time I just took a day and hit all my favorite stores to add enhancements.  And a few more ornaments, we do have three Christmas trees and they were looking a wee bit bare last year.

We decorate the whole first floor and the bar area of the basement.  The dining room is where I get my golds/silvers in, the main floor all the classic christmas colors and the bar area tree is purely red/green balls and garland.  Well, and theres a gingerbread theme going at the hightop and surrounding areas (forgot photos of that area!) This year I've really been eyeing plaid and raindeer.

The foyer houses the first of our three trees and one of my favorite little setups which holds our stockings (we don't have a fireplace).  We got Stella a stocking this year too but it's still in the bag, maybe we'll get around to hanging it sometime before Christmas.  Our manger scene (borrowed from my stepdad - my parents have a huge nice manger scene so I borrow one old one, and my brother borrows the other old one - perfect!) is also up there.

Like I said above and as I'm sure you noticed in the foyer tree - the dining room area is where I do all my golds.  I love the traditional Christmas colors but I do love having the only gold section.  I left out a couple areas in photos which I might get around to showing at some point - just the favorites today.

My mom started a Spode collection for us last Christmas - I waited my whole life for it after always growing up eating off her "pretty" Christmas plates all season.  Each year I plan to ask her for an accessory piece or two for Christmas and this year so far we've already put in an order during the Macy's F&F sale for some matching glasses - really can't wait for those!

Where better for the Christmas tree than the family room?! We've also got some Christmas spirit on the bookshelves and have started displaying our Christmas Card photos.  I excluded the spot where this years' are displayed since they haven't been sent out yet but I will share those soon! My parents always did a special holiday card and I love that now Derek and I do one too.

peace shelf items, santa and snowman - pier one
ho ho ho, don't get your tinsel in a tangle - michael's
santa's magical key, christina's christmas shop - gifts from my parents :)

Final stop for the first floor, the kitchen and the breakfast nook.  Last year the kitchen was bare but I love doing the breakfast nook up big - there's a credenza in there that's perfect for holding seasonal decor.

I can't wait to pick up our "new this year" glasses to display on the countertop this year too. And to use!

We've still got to finish up the centerpiece for the table - I'm thinking a tall candlestick on either side of the centerpiece but for now we got creative with what we had - leftover garland and a mini wreath on a cake stand.
plaid napkins, plaid table runner, appetizers plates - sur la table

Onto the bar area of the basement.  In the winter this is one of our main entertaining spots if we're not all hanging around in the kitchen {when it's warm enough we are on the deck any chance we get} so we put up a couple simple {and some drinking themed} decorations down here too.  We typically have our red/green tree up down here next to the bar but just haven't gotten around to putting it up yet.

We celebrated Stella's first birthday just before Thanksgiving {more on that to come} but since she's still very puppy and loves destroying her toys to get the squeakers out we got here a bunch of Christmas stuff for her birthday to play with for the season.  Love having that little face under our tree!

Now just to get the outdoor decor up this weekend! It's hard when traveling for Thanksgiving but we both agreed that next year if we are out of town we'll most definitely be coming back in time to have a decorating day over the holiday weekend.

Have you entered to win these fabulous Lilly Pulitzer goodies yet?! If not make sure to do so in the rafflecopter below.  The giveaway runs through Monday night at midnight!
