St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!
Six years ago today Derek & I met at a college party, in a basement - so glamorous.  So to all you college kids out there drinking and celebrating the holiday - maybe you'll meet "the one" today.

The First Days:

 from the college years

 and...
the very first picture there ever was - Spring 2008 - I was 19, Derek was 22.

The "Yes" Day...

The "Best" Day is yet to come!

We love celebrating St. Patrick's Day each year.

Long Distance Relationships

Amen!

We did the whole...
Face time to "see each other everyday"
Meet halfway (we ended up finding a nice "getaway spot" in Princeton - we'll be returning soon)
The second you unpack, you repack.

I'm so glad to put the distance behind us and be done with the constant packing - there aren't very many perks of a long distance relationship but I am finding the cutest little items lately!
How cool are these?! Why did I never get them.
I did almost make us these mugs once - maybe I still will.
We probably would have never been able to do this - I would have eaten all mine in the first week and Derek would have never finished his.
We did a lot of driving so these could have been good.
I seriously am not sure why I never asked Derek to be pen pals - probably because he'd never do it.

How cute!

I'm definitely going to still get us one of these prints from Etsy

Wedding Wednesday: Celebrity Brides

Engaged the same time as me (I'm sure there will be a Part Two to this and I'll have to add more  before the wedding):

The Good:

Emily Maynard:
She might be on her fourth engagement but if I had to guess, Queen Emily, is surely going to have some great hair and make up tips on her blog for other brides to be.
Lauren Conrad:
We got engaged the exact same weekend and she's always posting planning tips on her blog. Best person to be getting married the same year.
Kara Keough (now Bosworth):
Sam & I love stalking this Real Housewives of OC daughter.  She has a great style and had great wedding pics to look at.  Her new hubby is an NFL player so that's another added plus.
Kacie B:
The cutest little southern girl who was heartbroken, literally heart broken over stupid Ben Flanik has moved on to much bigger and better things.  She's been engaged a week and I already love the pillow in her engagement pics and this book she posted, which I got for the upcoming FL trip.
Catherine Guidici (now Lowe):
Sure she's married now but she used some great emoji's and hash tags during her bride to be days not to mention the notes I took from her TV wedding.
Pippa Middleton:
If I can't get married the same year as Princess Kate then Pippa is a good second.  I hope my bridesmaids are ALMOST as stunning as she was at The Royal Wedding.  I say almost as stunning because Pippa sort of stole the show.

Jenifer Aniston & Jessica Simpson:
I love both of them but they've both been engaged like forever so they only partly count. (They also both dated John Mayer, which I forgot about until googling them at the same time - as did Schaena Marie, below, which I never knew about).

Whitney Port:
She's super stylish so I bet her wedding style will be perfect.

I could take take them or leave them:

 Scheana Marie:
The Vanderpump Rules cast is one hot mess, I wouldn't want to share any wedding tips with Scheana.  And she was one of Eddie Cibrian's mistresses #TeamBrandie
Kim Kardashian:
Her hay-day is over and this is her third? marriage?  Definitely don't want her marriage tips but I am interested to see how overly ridiculous Bridezilla Kanye plans their day.
Leighton Meester:
I love Leighton but she kept her engagement and wedding very under the radar (good for her for keeping her private life private) but therefore she provided no tips for her fellow brides.

It was fun celebrating our first and only engaged Valentine's Day! Looking forward to many more . . .

With a big year ahead, we decided to set a low valentine's day budget this year and make our own valentines!
 Supplies

What we ended up with
With our valentines before we headed into Penns Landing for dinner at the Chart House - we stayed over in the city and went to our Cake Tasting the next day.

Wedding Wednesday: Popping the Question to the Flower Girl & Ring Bearers

Simliar to the bridesmaids, we asked our Flower Girl & Ring Bearers to be part of our wedding in a special way.
We asked Derek's niece and nephew at Thanksgiving since we would all be together at that time.
Flower Girl teddy bear and note asking her to be in our wedding.
Ring Bearer bear and note asking him to be in our wedding.
We put the teddy bears in a bag with some Christmas crafts (the $1 section at target is addicting) and put their poem in an envelope on the bag.

We ordered the teddy bears from this Etsy site.
The poems I designed myself on the computer; the wording in the poems I took from Pinterest :)
I think they liked them!

My cousin, Nick, is a little bit older, so we tried to think of something he'd enjoy more than a teddy bear.  We asked Nick on Christmas since my whole family was together then.
I created Nick's poem on the computer too.
We went with a "pop" theme since Derek "popped the question to me" Now it was our turn to "pop the question to Nick"
We found this fun popcorn kit in Target while we were out Christmas shopping.  You can pop your own popcorn and then add all different kinds of flavoring (and this would be great to counteract all the sweets we were planning on putting in)
Ring pops and gummy ring pops (they must be new).  We originally planned on having him open a box filled with a ton of ring pops -- but mom suggested to maybe not go too overboard on sweets for a six year old so we just got three bags.
I think he liked his gift too and that all three kids are excited to be in the wedding . . .

& I'm excited to have three cute Flower Girl/Ring Bearer(s) and have them be part of our special day!
