Currently: Top Five

One of the things I'm loving most right now is the seasonal fresh blooms!

Enjoying:
Summer.  This summer certainly isn't just a regular summer for us  - we're constantly flipping back and forth between the house to do list, the baby to do list and enjoying these summer days.

I'm starting to get to the point where I'm really looking forward to fall (tailgates, cooler weather, holidays, pumpkins) but I know I'll miss these summer days too - we've been staying up late, it seems we're busy more weeknights than we're not, the weekends are spent on the dock or by the pool. During the other seasons I feel like we live a much more structured life, dinner is always planned, up early, bed early but these days it's just a summer mind set and go with the flow days.

Dreaming Of:
Now that I'm into the third trimester (!!!) I'm really getting excited to meet our little boy.  Before it was sort of that pregnancy excitement of setting up the nursery, picking out things for the playroom, shopping for lots of little blue outfits and now it's more thinking about the day he's born, how much fun this holiday season will be with him, introducing him to Stella, and how our life will change.

Working On:
A big photo print out.  I backup my computer pictures once a week but haven't printed them out in such a long time.  I'm trying to catch up starting with the first half of this year then the past few and moving forward make an effort every few months to sit down and send photos to print and then save. I've seen people do the photo year books too and I'd love to start doing that also.

Loving:
Baby blog reading - We haven't and probably won't signed up for any childbirth classes, I have't really read many books (but I do have a stack of them and some that I'm hoping to!), but I have been loving recently searching "pregnancy" on any mom blogs and reading experiences.  If you have lots of posts - please steer me in your direction :)

Looking Forward To:
We weren't sure about a baby moon but we quickly got one together and it's quickly coming up.  We plan to do a lot of traveling with the baby included but it hit me recently that if we don't take one more trip just the two of us, that's the last for a while - or the next time we do we aren't only leaving behind our sweet Stella but also our sweet baby boy too.

Like I said above, this is such a busy season, I'm also looking forward to the little basic things too - our last lake weekends, our first tailgates (luckily I should be able to go to a few!), enjoying the craziness that is our phase of life right now.

  1. I love those yellow florals in that blue and white vase - so pretty! So many great things going on - the house, the baby and just normal summer things! Before we know it, fall will be here!

  3. Yes, take that baby moon! You're right: it's just not the same travel experience leaving your sweet baby behind -- and all the prep work that goes into it, whew! I didn't take any childbirth classes, either, and the only book I read was "On Becoming BabyWise," and just looked at the weekly What to Expect app on my phone. ;) You're doing great!

  5. Life is definitely about to change drastically but it is SO much sweeter! I'd love a post about how you back up your pictures and where you get them printed, etc. I have NEVER backed my pictures up KNOCK ON WOOD. I need to do it asap!

  10. It would always take me forever to print out photos from my computer, which is why I started doing the family yearbooks. They're so much fun, and a great way to look back on years past. And with your blog, I bet that you'd find a lot of details about years past too that you could include!

  15. Um, I'm SO bad at printing photos! Go, you and keep it up when baby boy comes!! I documented everything pregnancy on my blog (label: pregnancy). I was OBSESSED with reading every single pregnancy blog when I was preggers, too ;)

  16. I am in such a similar season of life. Enjoying summer but ready for all that is to come. I loved reading birth stories and even watching birth videos (professionally done ones that is!). Books I loved were Birthing From Within and The Birth Partner (for dads) but both are very natural birth focused.

  18. I used to make photobooks with Picaboo and LOVED them. With the blog though I feel like I don't have time anymore :( Will definitely be good for baby though!

  19. The one pre-baby class I enjoyed was the bringing home baby class. My husband and I had never been around newborns and had no idea what we were doing. I did not want to do labor and delivery classes and felt I learned more and felt better from just reading and a bit of research. Thankfully, there are nurses with you every step of the way. So it's not like you are doing it on your own.

  20. The third trimester flies by, try and soak it up! Our baby is already 3-1/2 months old (also a sweet boy!) and I can't believe it. We didn't take any birthing classes, but my husband did take a new dad class. He hadn't ever been around babies prior to our son being born and even he didn't find it helpful. Classes might give you an idea as to what to expect, but you just learn as you go anyways. As cliche as it is, I don't think anything prepares you for having a baby. Not in a bad way, there's just nothing like having your own baby!

  21. Yay for getting photos printed!! I just finished a book of our Italy 2016 trip, but I still need to do the next half of that trip... among all the others... I love being able to go back through them! I need to do prints though - there are a lot of places that need frames in our house. ;)
