The main event of the weekend was our second annual Penn State tailgate party. Last year we hosted a smaller group for one of Penn State's night away games so we decided to make it an annual thing that we'll do each year and hosted an even bigger group this year. A group of about 15, a mix of friends and family, came over Saturday night in the hopes that Penn State could overtake #1 Ohio State (making us 5-2). The first quarter showed promise but the Nittany Lions couldn't get it done. Despite the loss, we all had a blast and the party continued well on into the night which made for a lazy Sunday yesterday.

A little blurry but we managed to get a full group picture for the tailgate wall thanks to the selfie stick
I had packed up some of our tailgate supplies at the last home game to be able to setup as if we were at the stadium and we had a pretty traditional tailgate menu as well. This week on the menu…
Black bean & corn salsa
Mexican dip
Clam dip (an old family recipe & crowd favorite)
My Mom's hot frito dip
Buffalo chicken ring
Spinach dip with bread bites
Pizza for the main course
A seasonal pumpkin roll, game day pretzels and thumbprint cookies for dessert.
Derek's custom Dallas Cowboys/Penn State Nittany Lions shirt was ordered here
It always makes my heart so happy to look up and see a full home and lots of loudness, laughter and enjoyment.
Other Weekend Happenings…
Derek had the day off on Friday so after a lazy morning (for him) and a barre class/grocery shopping (for me) we took advantage of the nice weather and headed into the city for a lunch date and some wandering. We found a delicious new little sports bar that I'm pretty sure we'll definitely be returning to.
The drink, the appetizers, the meal… all so delicious
Like I said above, one of my best friends and her boyfriend were visiting for the weekend. They got in late Friday night after work so we did a late dinner followed by drinks to catch up. Having extra time to sleep in on Saturday and naps for everybody was much appreciated. Derek had to go into work for a little bit so I took them to explore around the main street in town and grab some mexican for lunch before getting ready for the tailgate party.
Continuing in loving all things fall, Derek and I went out for some more pumpkin picking yesterday. My brother is on the board for the local arboretum so we wandered around "pumpkin day" enjoying food trucks, fall festivities and came home with two pumpkins.

Given the freezing temperatures, yesterday was another crockpot day and we highly enjoyed the best potato soup for dinner.

ReplyDeleteSelfie sticks always result in blurry pictures! You would think they would make those things lighter so it wouldn't be so hard to hit the button and keep the camera still :) Looks like your party was a blast! And please tell me you made that pumpkin roll yourself! I tried once but got nervous when it came time to roll it, so it just ended up being a pumpkin sheet cake ;)
