Happenings {Fall Edition} + Giveaway

It's been a little while since I've done a "happenings" post so why not in the midst of one of my favorite (and most busy) seasons...

What We've Been Up To:
Embracing all these fall activities {pumpkin picking, Halloween celebrations}, football games, wedding season, crockpot soup Sundays, lots of time spend with many groups of friends, long walks with the pup.

What I'm Loving:
Each day is pretty much fun right now (and busy!).  Fall is always our busiest season so we have fun plans ahead on the calendar for most weekends to look forward to.  The crisp temperatures are perfect for walks.  Finally having some down time is nice.  Absolutely loving everything seasonal, of course.

What We're Eating {& Drinking}:
We've been using our crockpot as much as possible - soups, casseroles, chicken dishes and tonight a first - crockpot lasagna.  We've been enjoying eating out for date nights and of course tailgate food on game days.  All of the above pairs nicely with my favorite... pinot grigio.

What I'm Wearing:
Ponchos are one of my new favorite trends - I've worn this one multiple times already.  Yesterday was the first time I slipped on a pair of tall fall boots - the temperatures have been quite chilly here this week - all changing today! I've been loving my favorite banana republic jeans (50% off), peep toe booties (similar pair) and lots of tunics (40% off).  It's slowly becoming scarf season - one of my favorite accessories (see my favorites here).

{One: floral top // booties // necklace
{Two: top
{Three:  dress // clutch // shoes (old, similar style) // bracelet // earrings}

What I'm Working On:
Christmas Everything - I go overboard every year and this year is no different.  Around October I usually catch the "Christmas bug" and start planning everything from what I want, to gifts to give, decorations for the house, Christmas plans and activities, baking - you name it and I'm probably planning it!

What I'm Watching & Reading:
I just finished up a huge binge session of Friday Night Lights (and find myself with MUCH more free time now that it's done).  In addition to the usual shows, we've been enjoying watching Blood & Oil and Quantico together.  I have a stack full of books calling my name and first up is finisihing my Princess Kate book (finally - I haven't picked it up in months!) and The Royal We... see a trend here?!

What I'm Excited About:
The holiday season, of course! I love the hustle and bustle of this time of the year.  Thanksgiving, Christmas and my birthday on the horizon.  For our first year of marriage we did both holidays with both families (we live 2.5 hours from Derek's family so we spent time in the car on each holiday too) and decided it was too much.  This year we're heading up Thanksgiving day to spend the holiday & weekend with Derek's family and staying home at Christmas to spend the holiday with mine - Lots of family and friend time upon us.  Days are never dull this time of the year and that can keep a girl excited nonstop.

{Reminiscing about… Last year - Thanksgiving, Birthday & Christmas}

What I'm Doing This Weekend:
We're headed out for some football (not the Nittany Lions!) and a couple days of vacationing.

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month:
Next month starts this Sunday.  November starts this Sunday.  The year JUST started how is it almost over??? Anyway I'm looking forward to my husband's birthday (a big one!)my obsession my pup's very first birthday, our last tailgate and football game of the season (not looking forward to the season being over), wrapping up wedding season, Christmas shopping and looking into some new ventures.

I'm quite looking forward to our Christmas decorations as they will be up in a few weeks! We won't be around for Thanksgiving so we'll get them up a week (or earlier) before so everything is ready and festive when we get back.  The longer I can have the decorations up, the better!

  1. GIrl, I'm with you! Already started on the holiday fun. Christmas cards, check! Plans, working on it! Outfits, double check! It truly is the most wonderful time of the year :)!

  2. I'm looking forward to being able to use my crockpot a lot more once the temps cool off! It's still warm down here sometimes but I'm hoping the rain from the hurricane brings in a permanent cold front! And I read The Royal We and loved it! You will too!

  4. I seriously can't believe this is the last week of October. I love how mild this Fall has been overall! Your Fall outfits are super cute (really like that plaid!)--I have a feeling Christmas is going to be here so quickly, but I don't want to forget about Thanksgiving in there!
Definitely link this up with Jessi and I today!

  5. I've caught the holiday bug too!! I already have gift lists and am starting a few projects. This year will be different though because we will be moving in December so no tree until December 10th. I'm so sad.

  6. I seriously do not know how the year is almost over! I haven't caught the holiday bug quite yet but I'm sure I will once Halloween is over! I love all the parties and events during the season, so much fun!

  7. I haven't even begun to think about Christmas yet... eek! Guess I need to get on that! And I totally have that floral shirt in the first "What I'm Wearing" pic! Love it! <3, Pamela Sequins & Sea Breezes

  12. I looooved Friday Night Lights and binge watched all seasons too. I was honestly sad when it was over!! I'm also getting Christmas obsessed ... I just bought super cute Christmas gift tags from the Target $1 bin ... (check it out!) and also may have picked up a bunch of Christmas scented candles ... hah! Never too early!

  13. I usually put our tree up early, too! I'm one of those people that can still be thankful with lights twinkling in my living room!

  15. Yay for the Christmas bug! I'm the same way, I pretty much plan to start decorating right after Halloween. And, since this is our first actual Christmas in the house (we moved in last year right before, so we only got our tree up), I plan to go all out! You have so much to look forward to it sounds like!

  16. Yesssss to all things Christmas! And of course the trusty crockpot - lifesaver on weeknights. Awesome giveaway gurlie, those earrings are gorgeous <3

  18. You're getting me excited for Christmas!! I've already got a running gift list for family memebers lol

  19. Those earrings are gorgeous! Fingers crossed ;) And we do the same thing for holidays - our families are 3 hours apart so we spend Thanksgiving with one and Christmas with the other. It's a bummer not seeing everyone on every holiday, but it was just too much!

  20. Yep, I'm totally on it for aaaall the Christmas stuff! Non-stop Christmas music starts for me on Sunday and I can't wait!

  21. I'm with ya! I loooove Christmas! And I loooove your red plaid pajamas! I always get the hubby and I a new set to open on Christmas Eve, do you re,ember where you got those? Thanks so much for sharing!

  22. Gearing up for soup season and Christmas too! My favorites! Love your plaid top and pjs!

  23. I'm so excited for everything Christmas. We did the same thing our first few years of marriage (trying to do both holidays with both families), and it got to be too much.

  24. I am starting to get the Christmas bug too! It is so fun to start planning (and buying!) gifts. Did you guys have matching pajamas on Christmas in that picture?! I love it!

  25. I cannot wait to see what you do for Christmas with decorations!!

What have you been making in the crock pot - I need some new ideas.

  26. I am in the middle of drafting a post all about ponchos. They are my favourite trend right now!

  27. I don't think that I can talk enough about how happy I am that it's finally soup weather! The only thing we cooked this week was soups and they are seriously the best for leftovers. And I'm right there with you, I can't believe this year is almost over! It's been a whirlwind for sure.

  28. I absolutely cannot believe that November 1 is Sunday! This week has been CRAZY getting ready for that deadline... I definitely need November to slow down!! I can't wait to see all your holiday decor!!

  29. Pinot Grigio is my favorite white, hands down! And you're right, there's something about Fall and crock pots, they just go hand in hand!

  30. Love your cute fall outfits!
Looks like you have had a great October so far!
