Palm Beach: Part Two
Once we got back to the hotel from our adventures, we got our bathing suits on right away and got right out into the sun. Since we'd spent the morning out, we decided to just do the pool today and let Tatum swim until he was exhausted. By mid afternoon he was ready for an almost two hour nap by the pool (total win for us!) and then a little bit more of swimming before calling it a day!
Tatum's at an age where we don't really need to bring many toys on vacation - just entertainment for the plane - he thinks everything in the room is so much fun... highlights include jumping on the bed, "talking" on the room phone and coloring with the pen/paper on the notepad at the desk.
We had dinner downstairs the hotel that night at probably our favorite restaurant in Palm Beach - The Seafood Bar. A lot of the time we have our favorites at restaurants but here I feel like we're always trying different things on the menu - tonight we tried new to us blue crab nachos and they were amazing! While Tatum isn't allowed to sit at the bar he loves to look at the fish.
To finish off the night we did the same as the night before, ice cream at Mary Lily's and a scoop for me this time - it's the cutest little shop with all sorts of candy and treats.
Thursday we kicked off our day with a walk down by the water, popping in a few stops up Royal Poinciana Way and stopping in the pro shop. It was a little overcast in the morning which was nice for our walk and cleared just as we were getting back.
A long pool/beach day was ahead of us - we opted to do the beach for a while before lunch and it was great family time - a little different than the days where Derek and I peacefully laid in the sun for hours, but a nice different!

Palm Beach: Part One
We spent most of last week in sunny Florida - Palm Beach to be exact. We left early Tuesday morning so we were able to enjoy the whole day down there. We were greeted with sunshine and warm weather right away which made everyone happy. After checking in at The Breakers, we got right into our bathing suits and walked out back by the pools to Ocean House for lunch.
Tatum was itching to get to the pool or beach since he could see it from our table so I asked if he wanted to take a walk which quickly got an "uh huh!" answer and we did while Derek finished up and gathered our stuff. Our first stop was the beach - we didn't even get chairs just went down to spend a while playing, walking around and dipping toes into the ocean.
Our final stop for the afternoon was up to the kids pool - with four pools to chose from, there's always a great spot. We got up late in the day so Tatum had the shallow end pretty much to himself to throw toys in and run get them. He took a nap just about at cocktail hour so we switched over to the main pool to finish the day.
We took a little bit of time to get settled in the room and cleaned up then headed down for a not too late dinner at the Italian Restaurant at the entertainment center - before sitting down we let Tatum play in the play center and arcade for a little bit and then enjoyed our meals which were just as good as we could remember.
The boys finished up the night with a scoop of ice cream from Mary Lily's on the way back to the room - we were all ready for bed early. No day is complete without either of them watching the golfers - it's looking like Tatum likes golf just as much as his daddy.
We all woke up totally refreshed the next day and ready for another great weather day. Our first stop each visit is usually the grab and go breakfast place to get something little to eat outside and then the playground - the slide continues to be Tatum's favortie.
We set off early that morning for a little bit of adventuring - our first stop was Manatee Lagoon, which in all our visits to Palm Beach, we'd never done. In searching "things to do with kids" I found it and we all enjoyed it - we saw about four or five manatees and Tatum made his way home with a little stuffed manatee.
Next up was a usual favorite of ours - Worth Avenue! We strolled the streets popping in stores then had lunch outside at Pizza Al Fresco - there are so many good eats in Palm Beach, this had been on my list for years and it didn't disappoint. Derek and I split a salad to start and we got two different types of pizza to all enjoy.

Weekend Scenes
Our January has been so low key and slow paced which has been great as our weekends are now starting to get busy again. We had lazy mornings in pajamas, a dinner out with friends one night and family the other night and lots of relax time.
Saturday the weather was awful - hard rain most of the day so we took Tatum to Color Me Mine to paint a few things - he loved it.
The three of us went out to lunch and then to continue the weekend fun took Tatum bowling for the first time - I foresee many trips to the bowling alley in the future as he really liked it. Derek and I had a great time too, it's been a long time since we've bowled.
After all the fun, a long nap was definitely in order. Back on Friday to start off the weekend I went to Michael's to grab a bunch of craft and baking stuff to do in February with Tatum leading up to Valentine's Day - we're getting to the point where he really understands and enjoys holiday activities.

This & That
January has been a quiet month for us and it's been really nice - getting back into the swing of things after the holidays, low key weekends and such before we get busy and good family time.
We had a super mild weekend and got to do a lot of walks, playing outside and the itch for spring but I'm still waiting for one true big snow day and then I'll happily snap my fingers for warmer weather. The next weekend we had a small snow day and it was a total lazy day at home all day which was nice for all of us.
Tatum is getting bigger, more talkative, completing tasks and being a helper day by day this month. He's at such a fun age and we're enjoying every minute of him being a toddler two... well except the terrible two moments/Tantrums.
In the midst of a month of no plans, we've thrown in a few fun little activities with Tatum and they've been so fun - a couple weekends ago we took him indoor mini golfing with a friend and he had the best time - I'm not super shocked since golf is his favorite but I was happy he actually played.
