Long Weekend Scenes
We had a nice long weekend at the lake over Fourth of July weekend - the weather was a mix of chance of storms (a couple cooling evening rains) and sunny afternoons.
With Tatum really on the go it was a lot different than last summer. It was his first time to really swim in the lake and after a little adjusting he got the hang of it. He loved jumping off the ladder.
We had a big group and some very good family friends in town so we enjoyed some delicious meals - one night appetizers and pizza take out and another night I was in charge of Mexican night.
We spent most of the day Sunday enjoying some final river time before coming back to reality to get ready for the full week ahead - it's hard going back to regular life after a long weekend!

Fourth of July
I think we've finally caught up from the long weekend and celebrating the Fourth of July much of last week. The morning of the 4th we met some friends for a local celebration - kids bike parade (we all decorated the night before), snacks of hot dogs/pretzels/watermelon and a snow cone truck, balloon animals and fun outside as well as a fire truck ride.
We then packed up and made it to the lake around lunchtime to enjoy the rest of the day. We then got ready for our 4th of July BBQ - some fun apps and the classic burgers/dogs and all the sides - Tatum's first time trying a pickle as well as baked beans, both which he loved!
We finished the night off watching fireworks over the lake and enjoying some festive desserts along with a nice cocktail.

Weekend Scenes
We started our weekend off on Thursday night attending my cousin's swim meet - we all had fun but Tatum spent most of the time whining that he couldn't be IN the water.
Friday was our last day of painting so Tatum and I snuck out to the gym and an early lunch date before I grabbed a pedicure quickly while Derek was home.
We spent the evening at the pool with friends for swimming and pizza - a nice, relaxing way to spend the weekend.
Saturday was a day to finally catch up - clean the house, get things done that I'd been neglecting since the painting started, etc. It was also super hot so it was nice to be inside. We spent the night grilling with friends

Sunday we spent the day at the pool with friends for lunch, swimming and playing - the weather was perfect - our heatwave finally ended so it was so nice to be outside.
That evening we went over to the country club for more swimming and a Fourth of July BBQ complete with fireworks once it got dark.

This & That
We've had a hectic couple of weeks - two years later, we finally got our house painted/wallpapered - other than the bedrooms which we'll work on in the fall/winter. It meant lots of time out of the house to keep Tatum occupied and most rooms out of use for a week and a half - they finished on Friday though and we're so happy with it!
We finally, finally got our "spring" flowers planted - I'd been waiting until we got back from California. We just need to pickup a few more and we'll be all set. I'm hoping that our four rose bushes hold on and make it back next year.
The weekend (now three weekends ago, ha!) we got back from our long vacation we laid low - laundry, unpacking, catching up, a fun dinner out with friends but then that Sunday the weather was perfect - we spent most of the day on the deck playing and reading and decided to impromptu grill a nice family dinner for the three of us.
We took Tatum to see his first movie - Toy Story 4 - with some friends last weekend and he did pretty well - snacked on a lot of things and sat fairly still until about 20 minutes left.
Weekend before last I slipped away for about 35 minutes to myself at the pool - it was so nice since usually I'm chasing Tatum all over the place!
I finally jumped on the Trader Joe's bandwagon - Tatum loves a bunch of snacks/pouches from there and I've been enjoying their produce, frozen items and of course the flowers.
