Weekend Scenes: First at the Lake

I can't believe it's already June and the summer season is here.  It was so nice to escape to the lake last weekend and have a change of scenery for the weekend for the first time in 2+ months.  It was our first weekend of the season so a mix of getting the house ready and dock time.

We lucked out with beautiful days both Saturday and Sunday.  Tatum wasted no time getting in the water - walking up to shore, going right in and swimming over to the dock... on repeat.  He was exhausted by the end of the weekend!

Along with my brother, we also checked out a new to us walking trail Sunday morning after breakfast that is a great new spot for us and also has fantastic views of the river.

Labor Day Weekend

We have been enjoying these final days of summer the past few weeks!  Before the weekend started Tatum got in his last pool day of summer with friends.

To start off the weekend on Thursday my mom, Tatum and I headed out for a day of shopping and a chik-fil-a lunch for Tatum.

We spent most of the weekend at the lake.  We had wonderful weather and a lot of family time.  Friday we arrived just in time for pizza and on Saturday we had a little tailgate for the first Penn State game of the season and a huge victory (79-7) as well as lots of time on the dock in between.

Sunday we took care of some things to prepare for an upcoming trip and caught up at home for a little bit.

August Lake Days

It's the last month of summer and we've been just trying to enjoy it - be outside, do all the final summer things, etc.  Since August started we've been on the go.  We spent the past two weekends at the lake and last week Tatum and I spent a few days down the shore on a moms & kids getaway with friends.

Our weather at the lake the past two weeks has been wonderful - perfect sunny days and even slightly cool nights.  We've been doing classic pizza and salad nights on Fridays and appetizers/grilling on Saturdays.

We have one weekend left before ending the season - I can't believe it's this time already.  This summer has gone so fast but we've had such a fun doing all the summer things and loved our family lake long weekends.

Weekend Scenes

We had a great weekend doing a mix of things - mainly spending time outside since the weather was so nice.  On Thursday I shopped the Nordstrom sale early with a few girlfriends and it was a great way to start off the weekend.

I had to wake these two up on Friday but after the three of us took a morning walk and I did a few things around the house we picked up sandwiches and headed to the pool late morning for swimming and lunch before nap time.

Friday afternoon we made our way up to the lake for the night and got there just in time for happy hour, appetizers and then pizza later on.

Saturday might have been one of our nicest days so far this summer!  Lots of sun, lots of breeze and a great dock day - we headed down late morning until lunch time and let Tatum nap in the shade to stay down a little bit longer.

After lunch it was back down to do more of the same.  Tatum swam until he was exhausted again and enjoyed special dock treat - a popsicle.  We left for home late in the afternoon for a BBQ.

Sunday morning and afternoon we enjoyed some deck time as it wasn't overly hot back there.  I hadn't filled Tatum's water table in a while so he loved doing that while I read my book and Derek relaxed.

In between deck time we went to the country club with friends for swimming and lunch.  Tatum fell asleep poolside so we left for nap and then finished the weekend by making chicken enchiladas for dinner.

Long Weekend Scenes

We had a nice long weekend at the lake over Fourth of July weekend - the weather was a mix of chance of storms (a couple cooling evening rains) and sunny afternoons.

With Tatum really on the go it was a lot different than last summer.  It was his first time to really swim in the lake and after a little adjusting he got the hang of it.  He loved jumping off the ladder.

We had a big group and some very good family friends in town so we enjoyed some delicious meals - one night appetizers and pizza take out and another night I was in charge of Mexican night.

We spent most of the day Sunday enjoying some final river time before coming back to reality to get ready for the full week ahead - it's hard going back to regular life after a long weekend!
