Kiawah: Part One

Last week we spent the week down in sunny and warm Kiawah, South Carolina.  It's a super quick flight for us to Charleston and then a quick 40-ish drive out.  We went with my parents and brother so the extra hands to help with Tatum were SO nice!  Our flight went smoothly and by about 1pm we were out at the Freshfields Village on the way into Kiawah for lunch at King Street Grille (I love their make your own salad option on the menu) and a little shopping.

We checked into the hotel late afternoon and decided to all just settle in, relax and meet on the lawn for a drink instead of hitting the pool for an hour or so.  Tatum got to run all over before we got ready for dinner.  There are my parents still enjoying their drink in the view from our room - it overlooked the ocean on the other direction which was awesome to enjoy.  We stayed at the Kiawah Golf Resort, The Sanctuary and the lobby as well as the property is just beautiful.

For dinner on our first night we went back to our favorite from previous trips, The Ryder Cup Bar at the Ocean Course.  We love having a drink on the practice green then going up to the patio for dinner and watching the sunset.  On this particular Sunday, it was pretty empty and we got a great table.

Our first full morning there we took time to sleep in and catch up on rest then it was off for a little walking and to pick a few things up at the market - also to browse in the hotel shops.  We got an early start and a bunch of chairs at the pool and actually had such a good time we just spent the day relaxing there.

We got cleaned up and ready to go early that night - we were going on a boat cruise as an early celebration for my step dad's birthday the next day.  We took the hotel shuttle to Mingo Point and enjoyed an hour and a half sunset cruise - cocktails, a slow ride on the water to see around the area and two dolphins followed our boat a lot of the way which was cool to see!

When we got back we went over to Turtle Point Bar & Grille for dinner.. Sweet little Tatum fell asleep at the Tatum right after the meal then it was back to the hotel for bed after a full day.
