Friday's Feature {2/5}

Feature: All Things Cozy
For the first time in quite a while (thinking years here) I've let myself just relax and be lazy this winter - naps, reading under the blanket, all of the baths, cups and cups of hot chocolate, etc.  Plus cuddling with Stella.  And i'm loving it.  I mean if spring doesn't get here soon, I might turn into the laziest person ever on weeknights - I have much more pep in my step when it stays light up until 8pm.  When Derek said he was heading out to happy hour after work last night, it didn't take me long to decide some "me time" was in order.

Once I get home in the evening I'm most usually in a thin crew neck sweatshirt (hoods always get in my way!) and this season I've been loving the legging like pajama pants.  Derek's gotten me hooked on bath salts - I think I've had time in the tub every day for the past week(s).  Candles are a newer obsession and anything cinnamon and vanilla like works for me. I've been hooked on hot chocolate this year or if we're being honest there may sometimes be wine in my cup too - when you're not a coffee drinker but want to get use out of the cute mugs, you need to be creative! We have a basket of about four blankets in our family room so that they are always accessible and at least two are usually being used at all times.

Two things I've really been eyeing lately.  If anyone is a long time Bachelor fan then you'll remember Ashley Spivey (I think Brad's season?).  Anyway she is probably my all time favorite contestant and she's always talking about this night pillow that keeps her hair looking great.  It's a bit pricey but definitely moved to the top of my want list.  Since I've been on a moisturizing kick I've decided to maybe check out a face mask and landed on these Sephora ones.  Any suggestions out there?

Other Happenings:

+ We don't really decorate for Valentine's Day but I picked up the cutest mini bubble balloons that do not need helium and can quickly be blown up yourself at Target last week and can't wait to use them - I'm thinking around next Friday so they can be enjoyed most of the weekend.  (actually all of Target's valentine's day goodies are pretty cute - I've gotten some of the napkin sets to give with candy as gifts)

+ Pregnancies are always popping up these days as we move into that stage of life and Emily shared the cutest items to gift a couple that recently shared their big news.

+ When I shared the other day about our life lately and a Mexican night we hosted, I completely forgot to share the new taco recipe we tried - the chicken was filled with taste.  Speaking of meals, Sarah posted great tips on how to plan out meals.

+ I've been having the best time playing with my new hair toy, the hot styling brush, that Karly shared (she did a great tutorial here) - My hair is usually curled or straight but this is the perfect thing if I don't feel like doing either and going natural with just a little added bounce at the end.

+ The People vs. OJ Simpson - OBSESSED.

Cheers to the Weekend! Hoping that everyone enjoys the Super Bowl (and eats delicious Super Bowl food).  If your team is in the matchup - lots of luck!

  3. I'm Obsessed with People vs OJ too! We watched it from our DVR last night and it's done really well. I remember it all happening when I was in middle school, but a lot of the details I don't remember (because I was a kid, and it didn't matter to me then). Very interesting to see. Love all of your cozy items--makes me want to curl up for the day instead of work!

  4. Happy Friday! I am excited to watch The People vs OJ...I have it ready to go in my DVR. I don't remember at ton about it, but I do know my mom was parked in front of the TV for the entire trial. I made those tacos again this week...they are just delicious! Hot chocolate is a favorite and a great way to use mugs, like you said, because I am not a coffee drinker either.

  7. We, too, keep a basket of blankets in the living room and they're always used -- even in the dead middle of summer in Texas! Ha! We are loving "The People v. O.J. Simpson" and I kind of can't get over David Schwimmer as Robert Kardashian; it's brilliant in the weirdest way possible! ;)

  12. Blankets in the living room are a must especially here. Going out at night in the winter is always difficult. It's so cold and dark. The mug with the bow is adorable.

  27. The People vs. OJ is SOOOO good. We caught up on it Wednesday night and I'm loving it! There's so much about it that I don't remember since I was so young when it happened. It's so weird that Cuba is playing OJ, though, because he's such a likeable guy, and I do NOT like OJ Simpson. Lol.

  30. I've been looking for a good face mask too so I'm interested to see what you find! I've been debating on that brush since I saw Karly's tutorial, I'm glad to hear it lives up to the hype! Your winter weeknights sound a lot like mine this year! I figure it's going to get warmer & busy soon so we should enjoy hibernating while we can :)
