Rose Bowl

To kick off the year we made the trip out to California to see Penn State play USC in the Rose Bowl.  Even though we lost in the final seconds - a heartbreaking loss - it was still so much fun, even with the loss. The Rose Bowl is indeed the "Grandaddy of them all" and something that's always been on the bucket list - we moved quickly to get everything set once PSU won the Big Ten.  My parents were the best to take us all out there and we all had the best time finishing off this amazing season in person at the Rose Bowl.

We made our way over to Pasadena around 10am even though the game wasn't until 2pm.  They had a big fan fest set up, other bowl games on the big screens and it was a great way to spend the time leading up to the game since we didn't have any tailgate stuff.  There were food stations, a Korbel tent (my favorite), activities and such and more.

We made our way into the stadium about an hour before kickoff and there was plenty of food tents and drink stations setup around the main concourse too.  Leaving the stadium the staff were all saying it was the best Rose Bowl to date and it was cool to read all the excitement on social media after being voted the top bowl game of the year (not including the National Championship).

The environment in the stadium was such fun - definitely an electrifying setting at a bowl game.  It was basically a home game for USC but we had a decent amount of fans.  Things started off slow for us but then we came back with a solid lead only to loose in literally the final seconds with a field goal from USC for a final score of 52-49.  Like I said before, still so much fun even with the loss.

Already looking forward to the 2017 season!

  3. I can't even imagine how much fun it would be to go to a big bowl game if A&M was playing! All of the vendors and activities looked like so much fun, and I'm glad that y'all had a great time, despite a loss at the end.

  6. I was so sad that PSU didn't pull it out!! I root for them for you... this has been a rough year for last second losses (I'm looking at you, Dallas!) I'm glad that you all made the game despite the American flight drama!
