Domestic Travel Spots - Part Two

It's been a while since I shared the first part of this series with my favorite details of where to stay, play and eat in some of my favorite travel locations.  If you're planning a trip to Beverly Hills, Palm Beach, Dallas, Charleston or Sedona, you can find the first part here.

Today I'm finally getting around to part two and highlighting San Francisco, Saint Michaels, New York City, Boston & Nashville.

San Francisco
tasting wine flights at Pier 39

Stay: The Hyatt Fisherman's Wharf is nice because it's within easy walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf as well as Pier 39 and Ghirardelli Square.

Play: There is so might sightseeing to take in during a visit to this beautiful and clean city.   Seeing the famous sights like the Golden Gate Bridge, The Painted Ladies, Lombard Street and the Palace of the Fine Arts as well as making day trips to Sausalito by ferry boat or Napa Valley for wine tasting.  If your liking to get active you can bike a path along the water or even over the bridge.

St. Michaels
the view at the hotel from the pool overlooking the water.

Stay: This quaint little town in Maryland is perfect for a summer getaway.  The Harbour Inn is right on the water and also within an easy walking distance to the main street of town (they have complimentary bikes too).

Play: There are plenty of cute boutiques to pop in and out of on the main strip - The Preppy Redneck was my favorite.  St. Michale's winery is a fun stop while in town and even if you don't come in on your own boat you can cruise the waters on a Patriot boat cruise.

New York City
Perry Street

Stay: This one was never a vacation destination for us since Derek used to work in the city, we'd always stay at his hotel, The Lowell, for mini staycations around the city so other than that I don't have any hotel recommendations but that's okay there are plenty.

Play: Seeing a show on broadway, shopping up and down Fifth and Madison Avenues, visiting Central Park, visiting famous filming sights like the outside of the Friends apartment building or Carrie's apartment from Sex and the City are all fun stops.  Going up top at either the Empire State Building or the Top of the Rock provide great city views.

Boston
enjoying the harbor.

Stay: The Boston Long Wharf Harbourside Hotel is located right on the harbor as well as within walking distance to many sights including Faneuil Hall.

Play: Taking a trolley tour to see sights like the North End, Back Bay, The Boston State House and Boston Public Gardens is a great way to quickly see the city.  Peeking in the stores on Newbury Street is fun and it's really interesting to see the finish line of the Boston Marathon.  Making a trip over to Harvard is worth it as it's such a cute area and you can't forget about visiting Fenway Park to see where the Red Sox play.

Nashville
having fun at the Ryman Auditorium.

Stay:  Both the Renaissance and the Hilton are on either sides of Broadway making them great spots to be within walking distance to most things downtown.

Play:  Stops like the Ryman Auditorium, popping in and out of all the bars with live music, enjoying a carriage ride and just walking along Broadway are perfect to spend a day.  If you're looking to head away from the downtown area make a stop to the Opryland Hotel as well as the Grand Ole Opry or take a star's homes tour through the area and finally stop by Ivey Cake in Franklin, where Carrie Underwood's wedding cupcakes were made.

  3. San Francisco and Boston are two on my list to get to soon! Staying near the water is always my preference when we're going somewhere new - you get great views from your hotel that way & you're probably pretty close to all the fun things.

  12. You just talked about some of my favorite cities in this post! I love that y'all always stay at the hotel that Derek used to work for when you were in NYC, and you can't go wrong with hitting up Broadway in Nashville. It would be so much fun to do a star homes tour in Nashville too!

  13. Isn't San Francisco gorgeous! I'm sure all of these cities have their own appeal but SF & NYC are the only ones I've been to! We're visiting Nashville in less than a month so I'm looking forward to exploring Broadway and hopefully checking out the Grand Ole Oprey :)
