Vacationing: Domestic Travel Spots

Hearing where someone has been, getting a recommendation on a trip, seeing exciting travel photos - those are all great ways to inspire a trip!

Today I'm sharing details (where to stay, how to play, what to eat) from five of my favorite previous travels right here in the US.  To see specific details from each trip just click the travel tab above.

Beverly Hills

At The Beverly Hills Hotel.  If not staying there - they've got great eats - the fancier Polo Lounge and the more casual Cabana Pool Cafe and the Fountain Coffee Room.

Stay:
The Beverly Wilshire - it's located right in the heart of Beverly Hills at the end of Rodeo Drive which makes it easy for you to not need transportation to shop, eat, or explore that area.

Play:
Take a stars homes tour - if not to see where your favorite celebrities live than just to see the fabulous houses (Gliteratti is a great company for this!).  Get touristy and walk the Hollywood walk of fame, the Hollywood sign, The Chinese & Dolby theaters and more.  Shop and/or wind shop the stores along Rodeo Drive.  Hike Runyon Cannon, lay poolside or hit the spa and enjoy the wonderful CA weather.

Eat:
Craig's - If you're hoping to see a celebrity, this is a great bet as it's one of their favorites.  The menu also has a wide variety and everything is delicious.

Mastro's - The most delicious steakhouse with an amazing butter cake dessert.

The Ivy - Another celebrity favorite, great for lunches.

Palm Beach

Enjoying the Lilly Pulitzer setting at the brunch at The International Polo Club during a match.

Stay:
The Breakers is of course classic Palm Beach and an amazing property.  The Four Seasons is a little more reserved/quiet and has a great beach area.

Play:
If you're in town on a Sunday make sure to take in a polo match at The International Polo Club.  Beach/pool time is a must and relaxation.  Strolling up and down the shops on Worth Avenue is a great daytime activity.

Eat:
Meat Market - An upscale and modern vibe with delicious steakhouse favorites.

Taboo - This restaurant is classic Palm Beach, located right on Worth Avenue and has a varied menu with something for everyone.

The Seafood Bar - The real draw here is the bar area which has an aquarium built in as the bar.  It's a treat to see fish swimming under your drinks.

Dallas

Wine tasting in Grapevine, TX

Stay:
The Joule is a great boutique hotel right in the heart of downtown Dallas which makes walking places easy.  There's a unique vibe in the hotel and also a nice rooftop pool area.

Play: Attending a cowboys game and enjoying that stadium is fun for any football fan  plus there are a variety of college teams close by too.  The JFK assassination sights are very interesting to see.  The Dallas Arboretum has a gorgeous setting and is a great place to spend an afternoon.

Eat:
Nick & Sam's Steakhouse - A modern steakhouse with delicious food and an even better dessert menu.

Iron Cactus - A great Mexican menu and one of our favorite lunch spots complete with outdoor seating.

Charleston

Arriving at Irvin House Vineyard for a tasting

Stay:
The DoubleTree provides great bi-level suite rooms and is right in the middle of the historic district, great for walking to sights or meals.

Play:
Things weren't too touristy (this was a bachelorette party after all!) but Irvin House Vineyard is just outside Charleston and a great winery/distillery to spend an afternoon enjoying.  Of course strolling the main streets and peeking in the shops is a must.  Getting a lift on one of the bike taxis is a fun way to get around too.

Eat:
Burwell's Stonefire Grill - A great setting and a little something on the menu for everyone.  They also have a great cocktail selection.

Stars - Once you're done eating you can go upstairs and enjoy the wonderful rooftop.

Tbonz Grill - A great lunch spot with perfect appetizers for sharing.

Sedona

overlooking the town of Sedona
Stay:
Enchantment is almost like a little town in it's own - a fantastic setting with plenty to do and privacy to relax and refresh.

Play:
Taking the pink jeeps tours is a must - either around Sedona or up to the Grand Canyon.  There are a couple cute shopping centers to find unique gifts in and a wonderful lookout point to oversee all the red rocks.

Eat:
Javelina Cantina - Quite possibly the best Mexican meal I've ever had - a must if you like Mexican.

Che-Ah-Chi - Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner but the breakfasts here are beyond delicious and larger portions that can be enjoyed while over looking the red rocks right out the window.
