enjoying the weather and the tablecloths after the polo match… more on that below.
Many times when we travel I like to break up the trip and stay at different hotels - there are always so many great ones to pick from, I have a hard time choosing and would rather get to see more than one! We spent the first three days at the Four Seasons Palm Beach and the final three at The Breakers. We'd been to The Breakers before and knew we wanted to return but also wanted to check out FS. We loved both for different reasons and were happy that we picked too - they each had positives and negatives that balanced the other out.

Day One: Travel Day
We headed out of town Saturday afternoon which was perfect timing for a few cocktails on the flight and watching the sun start to set. After joking with our fight attendant he slipped us a bag of a few mini tito's bottles to enjoy on the beach! When we checked into the hotel I ended up running into a sorority sister, always fun to see. She even sent us some champagne and chocolate strawberries later in the night! Our room had a great view of the pool as well as the beach and a nice balcony for relaxing.
We scheduled dinner late for the first night since we were traveling in so we had some down time until heading out. Originally we had planned to do the Saturday night steak night outdoors at the hotel but were nervous we wouldn't get there in time so we made a reservation at Meat Market - there was definitely a modern twist on the typical upscale steak houses here. We each went for steak - different picks and split a delicious yet different mac and cheese. I'd said going into the trip not many desserts but it was hard to say no to the s'mores dessert to finish things up.
During our last stay in PB (a very quick one) I'd noticed in a lot of the hotel information that polo was a popular activity option nearby. Every Sunday during the season there's a match and you can either tailgate, watch from the stands or attend the brunch that they put on there. We knew this was definitely something we wanted to today.
We didn't need to be over to the polo grounds until around 2pm so we got ourselves down for a walk on the beach and time by the pool right when we got up.
The polo club is just outside Palm Beach in Wellington and just a gorgeous setting - everything so green and plenty of flowers. Our brunch package (there are many to pick from) included a bottle of champagne which got us a seat right up front by the fence as well as an additional glass of champagne and two drink tokens.
The tables all had Lilly Pulitzer table cloths (perfection), the brunch was delicious - a full breakfast buffet and many of lunch stations - pizza, stir fry, kabobs, beef wellington and pork stations, salad and much much more. There was also a two table dessert bar!
The first half of match went by pretty quickly since we were eating and sipping, at half time we went out on the field to stomp the divets (and get photos!), and the second half went just as quick as we met a few nice people to talk to.
taking part and stomping the divets!
Once the match is over the inside area turns into an after party but many people still enjoy the patio which is what we opted to do - we just left the cold weather, we wanted to be outside! We will definitely be adding this to our itinerary for our next weekend down to PB.
We didn't have any dinner plans tonight so we decided to take the hotel's suggestion for some seafood (lobster for me, blackened fish for Derek) then grabbed some drinks at the hotel bar before calling it a night.
