How is today the first of June already???
I'm not complaining that summer is here but gosh, time sure is flying fast.
The official start of summer might not be for another couple weeks, but in my mind, we've made it.
I thought today would be the perfect day to share my summer bucket list of a couple things I hope to squeeze in this summer. I made this list Saturday and then accomplished a couple items on Sunday so I'd say it's off to a good start!
Lay by the pool // One or more days of fun in the sun and floating around in the water.
Be a tourist in the city // There's so many great things to do in the city that we don't take advantage of I'm hoping to do one or both of these: Philly chocolate tour and/or cruising on the Spirit of Philadelphia.
Baseball games // We love joining my parents and brother at Phillies games throughout the summer using the family season tickets.
Picnic // So simple and would be so fun - there's a few great parks nearby and plus, Stella can come.
Ice cream night // I can't remember the last time I made a specific trip out for a scoop of ice cream (frozen yogurt is a different story!) and it's the perfect way to cool down.
Wine tasting // When traveling we usually look to see if this is a possible activity so I'm hoping to get in a tasting out of town and in our backyard - there is a winery not too far from here that we've been wanting to visit.
Golf // With my husband being such an avid golfer and family dinners usually quickly turning to golf talk, I'm hoping to play my first round.
DIY // With house decorating I haven't really done any projects lately so I'd like to get in one or more.
Homemade lemonade // I have a major love for lemonade so why not make some myself?!
Fishing // Derek always brings his fishing pole up to the lake so it would be fun to try out a new activity this year for myself.
Grow! flowers & veggies // So far the flowers are potted and the veggies planted - now I just home I can GROW them and enjoy.
Visit a dog friendly bar // Saint Michaels has me really craving a night out with Stella - I've done some research and we can definitely make this happen in the city. We also found out the other night we can bring her to the outdoor restaurant across the street from our house so by the end of summer hopefully she's ready for that!
Christmas in July // I've been wanting to do this for years but it always gets forgotten about - this year is the year I think.
Lake visits // Hopefully at least once a month visits to the lake - you can't beat sunning on the dock and booze cruises to kick off cocktail hour.
Patio dining // Eating outside any chance possible.
Visits with all our out of town friends (and lots of visits with local friends) // Now that our schedule is calming down it's much easier to see our local friends but we're hoping to see each of our out of town friends at least once this summer also.
Family trip // We always do a family vacation each year and I'm really craving it this year since we were too busy last year with wedding festivities. We're not going until early next year because we don't want to go somewhere hot hot hot in the summer so a quick long weekend together should cure the craving until then.
Brunches & happy hours // Aren't these events just more fun in the summer and when outside??
Feet in the sand // A relaxing day on the beach wouldn't be the worst thing, would it??
New drink recipes // With a new bar in the basement and a pinterest board full of ideas - I think it's time to test out some summer drink recipes.
Anniversary trip // We'll be at another wedding on our actually anniversary so we're hoping to celebrate with an anniversary trip in August before summer is over.
S'mores night // Is it really summer if this doesn't happen at least once??
Strawberry picking // We're strawberry fanatics in this house and this would be a fun and quick daytime activity.
Afternoons & nights at "home" // Home as I call it, but really my parents house is perfect for enjoying summer - a great yard to layout in, a fantastic view and a big deck for relaxing - it wouldn't feel like summer if I didn't enjoy some time over there. Somehow the food my parents' make always just tastes better than the food we make too.
and most importantly… Enjoy!
Last summer was all about our wedding, friends/family weddings and all the activities that go along with the main even so this summer it's time to enjoy the little summer things.
What are you looking forward to doing this summer???
I can't believe it's June either, lady! Where did May go?
