Disney World Day One: Magic Kingdom

Here we go... our first day at Disney World!  We flew in that morning getting in around 10:30 in the morning to have the full day there - We ended up having an extra seat next to us so Tatum got his own (this was his last flight on our laps before actually needing a seat).  We were able to drop our bags off in the rooms and then head right over to the Magic Kingdom - We got there around 12:45 and did some pictures on Main Street, caught Mickey's Royal Friendship Fare at the castle and then walked over to Pinocchio Village Haus for a quick service lunch.

We finished up in time to grab a spot to watch the 2pm Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade (I was bummed this was in the afternoon because this was our only afternoon at the park and Tatum loved it!) then it was time to start into our fast passes for the day - the boys did Space Mountain while my mom, Tatum and I did Under the Sea - Journey of the Little Mermaid.

When we came out it had started to rain, it had been pretty warm earlier so it almost didn't matter - it didn't last long and then it was just a drizzle on us.  Next was our fast pass for Dumbo and then we went back in so Tatum could do the little play center since it was raining at this point.  We waited in line for the Mad Tea Party Teacups next - we never waited more than about 15 minutes for anything, at Tatum's age it wasn't worth it - fast passes were everything!!

Finally by 3:55 it was time for our last fast pass of the day - Peter Pan's Flight.  We'd waited under the castle for a couple minutes due to the rain and Tatum fell asleep so he missed this ride and just rode through on Daddy's lap.  Once we scanned in our last fast pass and were in line I was able to grab another one for It's a Small World (for 4:20 - 5:20 so right when we got off Peter Pan basically) right across the way - Tatum woke up for that and it ended up being his favorite!

While walking onto it's a Small World I grabbed a fast pass that popped up for Pirates of the Caribbean at 5pm - we decided Tatum might get scared so my mom and I caught the Move it! Shake it! MousekeDance It Street Party parade which was modified for the drizzle but Tatum loved - it was his first time really seeing the characters up front and he waved so hard!  We did a little shopping then met the boys and all headed back to the hotel for a nice break.

After a couple hours of relaxing we went to 1900 Park Fare for Cinderella's Happily Ever Character Dinner.  We were staying at the Grand Floridian so this was the perfect first dinner as we could just walk downstairs.  It was Cinderella, Prince Charming and the two stepsisters - these characters weren't ideal for Tatum but since they were "people" characters it helped him adjust and the food was so good - I'd highly recommend!

We'd expected to finish up in time for the fireworks but didn't quite make it but we were able to see the light show on the water and then called it a night and headed up to bed - we were all ready for a good night's sleep.  Tatum slept so well in his crib the whole time were were there - he went right to sleep and usually slept until we woke him in the morning.
