Runyon Cannon, WeHo & Bel Air

On Wednesday we were up and out early to go for a hike at Runyon Cannon - we'd tried to do this for a few years but something always came up (it was shut down, it was too hot, etc.) so we were happy to finally make it!  It was a good work out and we saw some great views of the city.

We drove around Hollywood for a little bit after and into the hills past some gorgeous homes.  We decided not to take the time to get out and walk around the Hollywood strip this time and just went back to the hotel for lunch at the Cabana Cafe.

We spent the afternoon swimming, playing and enjoying some quiet time during Tatum's nap which became our daily afternoon routine.  We left the pool earlier than usual today because we had a babysitter coming for Tatum that night so we could go out!

After we got Tatum settled we set out for our usual date night spot - Craig's.  A fun setting and the best American/Italian food - "the boys" dessert pizza is a must to finish the meal.  I later saw most of the BH housewives were in at about 9:30 for dinner - bummed to miss but that was around our usual bedtime on this trip, ha!

Craig's is right around the corner from Sur and Pump and down the street from Tom Tom - since it was new we figured we'd go for a drink to end the night.  There was a short line to get in and you had to have a seat even if just for a drink.

The next morning was back to being all about Tatum (who did great with his babysitter the night before!) - we went to Peek-a-Boo Playland in Bel Air - similar to some play areas around here with plenty of things for toddlers to play with.  Not too far was the Beverly Glen Deli so we grabbed sandwiches for lunch outside.

We setup at the pool for our final afternoon of relaxing and palm trees - we were just going to eat at the hotel tonight so we didn't really have a time frame.

Tatum slept late so we got some appetizers and enjoyed happy hour by the pool.  Ben Simmons, one of the star players for the Sixers came down to the pool area and while we never stop celebrities when we see them there, we decided to ask for a picture for Tatum and he was great about it.

We freshened up, got our final things packed up and finished our trip with dinner inside at The Polo Lounge.  We'd fed Tatum before so he relaxed in his pajamas in his stroller watching a show and getting tired for bed.  Our flight was super early the next morning which got us home around 4pm our time... Until next time, California!

Father's Day Weekending

Happy Wednesday!  We spent most of Father's Day weekend up at the lake (our first weekend of the season) for a relaxing time.  We got up in time for salads and pizza on Friday.  Saturday after a few errands and relaxing on the porch it was time for lunch and then Tatum's nap so we just spent a little bit of time down on the water in the afternoon.

That night we had some light appetizers and grilled burgers, dogs and sides for Father's Day finished off with our usual "Father's Day Key Lime Pie."

Sunday we slept in, did Father's Day gifts and enjoyed lunch then headed home to spend the rest of the day here.  We got in some pool time and then ordered italian take out (Derek's pick!) for dinner. Tatum also made some Father's Day crafts to hand out.

Malibu

On Tuesday we did a small walk around the neighborhoods near the hotel before we spent the day out by the beach in Santa Monica and Malibu.

Our first stop was the Santa Monica Pier - we strolled along and let Tatum ride a few of the kiddie rides.  Next we stoped at Malibu Country Mart for the playground and a little bit of shopping.

Our final stop was lunch at Nobu Malibu, which is a usual for us each trip out west.  The food is delicious and the scenery is even better.  Derek and I split the spicy miso chips, crispy rice with spicy tuna, a few variations of the nobu sashimi tacos and malibu takumi burgers which we split with Tatum... as well as the sweet potato fries that came with them.

We spent a long session at the pool this afternoon as well as a nice long nap for Tatum which gave us time to relax (I sat in the backseat with him on the way back from Malibu trying to keep him awake!)

When we got back to the room we found the kindest treat from the hotel - they'd taken pictures from my Instagram and made them into chocolates as well as chocolate covered strawberries and other treats - I was blown away - it was so kind!  Derek and I ate them after dinner with a glass of wine on the patio after Tatum went to sleep.

Similar to our first night, we ate at the hotel to keep things easy with Tatum - this way, we were able to let him have a later pool day instead of going in to get ready too early.  We actually had our same exact meals as the first night since they were so good!

Beverly Hills

After a quick breakfast and a walk on the beach we went back to pack up our room and left Huntington Beach around 11, making us arrive in the LA area around noon.  We decided to go over to the Grove and LA Farmers Market for lunch at Marmalade Cafe and some walking around.  Afterwards we checked into the Beverly Hills Hotel and got settled in our room.

We spent the rest of the afternoon at the pool.  There wasn't a kids pool but Tatum loved the steps to the main pool and got adjusted swimming all over the place.

Since we'd just arrived, we figured we would keep things easy at eat dinner at one of the spots at the hotel - The Polo Lounge.  We opted to eat outside and have more space with Tatum - however, he ended up doing great and didn't make a peep - he did get tired at the end and cuddled up in the booth with me to watch a show.  I had my favorite chicken tortilla soup and the mccarthy salad while Derek enjoyed his lamb chops.

On Monday we slept in a little bit and I enjoyed a bit of reading on our little patio.  We drove around a little looking at houses and then strolled Rodeo Drive, each picking up a quick treat.  Our lunch was outside at Il Pastio (we'd eaten for dinner before with our family when we were in town for the Rose Bowl).

The rest of the afternoon was the same as we'd spend all afternoons this week - at the pool!  We called it a day early to get ready for dinner.

We decided to venture out for one of our west coast favorites - Mastro's - we did an early dinner since Tatum was with us but he did great.
