Happenings

It's been a while since I shared some life happenings so a bunch of random things today.  We've been able to do just a few deck nights (a lot of rain lately!) but we've really enjoyed our time out there.  This playpen for Tatum is awesome to use outside.

I usually try to get a walk in for each Stella (before Derek goes to work or if he's working from home) and Tatum each day - when we have time we do family walks at night too.

I didn't wake up at 4am but I was on the couch by about 6:30 for the Royal Wedding - I watched what I was in time for and then went back later in the day/weekend to watch the early arrivals and such.

Tatum always wants to be doing something - I'm glad the pool is open and we have some deck toys now (trying out soon!) but until we're in full summer mode we've done lots of playroom playing.

Baby food hasn't been the easiest but we're slowly working on it - he enjoys pouches but needs to learn how to use the spoon so we usually do a combo pouch for dinner and something spoon fed in the morning.

I usually do a weekly Target run and just fit in whatever I can but sometimes my mom will keep an eye on Tatum while I go - having the time to stroll the store and get a big cart load instead of a hand basket full is wonderful.

I love that Tatum is usually content playing in his crib for a little bit in the morning.  He also helped me do a closet clean out and get it ready for summer as well as put the 6-9 month clothes in and take the 3-6 month clothes out.

Lastly, he's pulling up onto anything/everything he can... Keeping us on our toes!

Memorial Day Weekend

Our weather for the holiday weekend was far from summer like.  Thursday - Saturday the weather was ideal so we crammed in anything we could during those three days.  We had a big group of family over for dinner Thursday to kick off the weekend with Mexican night - Tatum was not lacking for attention at all.

Friday my mom and I went to the mall to check out the sales and gather a few more summer items for ourselves.  My stepdad came to meet us for lunch which was a treat too!

Derek and I had a low key night and took advantage of the nice weather on our deck since we knew it was probably our only shot for the rest of the weekend - we had some appetizers then put Tatum to bed and grilled salmon sliders with crab cakes for dinner.

Saturday morning we were up early trying to get some outdoor stuff in before it rained - luckily the rain pushed back until dinner time so we got everything in - first up was a family walk.

I always love getting our new flowers for the season.  We're doing some landscaping out front this year so we skipped that but got a bunch of flowers for our deck and some vegetables to grow - we're still working on getting everything set up.

We packed up sandwiches for lunch and set off for a solid afternoon for the pool - which Tatum loves! Our pool has a splash pad at the entry and Tatum was crawling all over and never once cried to get out.

We had a wedding that night so my parents came over to babysit and we headed out to celebrate with friends and enjoy a night out!

Sunday was rainy and gross and we did a whole lot of nothing - our BBQ at the Country Club got moved inside but we still went and had a good time with friends.

Monday again was gross and the weather had us so lazy - we did a lot of playing inside, a nap and not much else.

We scrapped our plans to grill that night but it did dry up enough for us to sit on the deck for a cocktail before throwing together an easy dinner and watching the Bachelorette.

Friday Picks

Happy Friday... and Memorial Day Weekend! The unofficial start to summer is finally here.  We're looking forward to some pool time, barbecues, family time and relaxing this weekend.  I'm so excited that the weather is finally nice and summer is here, there are so many fun things we have planned with Tatum this summer and I'm so looking forward to them all.

My mom and I are doing a little shopping today before the weekend starts to take advantage of the sales, I have my eye on a few new summer accessories...

Have a great weekend! xx

Kiawah: Part Two

Our last day in Kiawah was filled with great weather and no plans.  We had a leisurely morning, some of us went to breakfast, some played with Tatum and we visited the hotel shops.

Usually we finish our days at the pool but today we opted to start there and spend the whole afternoon down on the beach.  Tatum loved playing with his new pool toys and took a few dips into the water then we all went over to the beach bar for drinks and lunch.

There's not much that's better than lounging on the beach! Tatum loves the sand and we had a bunch of playmates for him.  Since summer hasn't quite started the beach was pretty quiet which was nice!

Not a cloud in the sky and many hours spent doing nothing but enjoying the sun...

We opted to go back to the Ryder Cup Bar for dinner again because you can't beat those views - we loved another cocktail hour before heading to the patio for dinner.

The time of the year we went was perfect - just before the season really heats up - in temperate and with crowds and it got me really excited for this summer season ahead.

Until next year...
