Weekending in a Nutshell

This weekend flew by, we didn't do much (thanks to the unknown Saturday snow) and I wasn't awesome at taking pictures (not much to take) so this weekend recap is brought to you by some of the Real Housewife gals, so here we go…

A little pre-weekend action, Derek and I had an "appetizer date night" at the bar before going to see 50 Shades of Grey on Thursday night (we love Thursday date night).  I love simple appetizers for dinner and sometimes that's all you need.  We did grab pretzel bites at the movies though.  This was our first time at the movie theater by our house and we will most definitely be back, soon.  The seats recline and are so comfortable!  The seats were also assigned, which was different but we got the end of a row.  I know there are a lot of opinions out about it but I liked the movie (there was a good amount in the theater)  and the music was on point.  So good. We've been listening to the soundtrack all weekend long.

Friday I stayed home (hello negative degree wind chills) and woke up fresh and ready to go, despite a couple glasses of savion blanc the night before.
Please bring spring soon, please. No more single degree days.
Laundry, a major house clean AND grocery shopping all done before 5pm on Friday was a major score to me.  It was too cold to keep Stella outside much (I don't know if it's because she's a puppy or just a fragile little lady but sometimes she starts shivering, but then other times she rolls around in the snow - maybe she's just a good actor!) so I made sure to give her some extra attention inside and threw the ball a few extra times for fetch.

How is it that two people wear so many clothes?! Every time I peek into the hamper it's like again?? how is it full?? I treated myself to a grilled cheese and tomato soup for lunch and caught up on How to Get Away with Murder/Scandal before grabbing a quick massage.  What a great start to the weekend!  We went out on Friday night last minute since it was going to snow the next day (I guess we missed the weather report) and I was terrible about taking pictures.

Saturday was pure bliss - a day spend *mostly* at home with nothing to do.  We ran out in the morning for a couple errands including Stella's vet appointment - 8.7 pounds and growing well! Although, the vet said she'd be shocked if Stella gets bigger than 20 pounds and thats quite okay with me - I love that our munchkin will stay a munchkin.

The afternoon was a mix of odds and ends around the house, movies (I was thrilled to find Father of the Bride II on), DVR (Housewives, Pretty Little Liars), tv, naps, basically laziness and it was a much needed rest catch up day.

We cancelled our plans obviously because of the snow, thought about having some friends over but again the snow so we continued embracing our lazy day at home and had Mexican night. Margs, homemade salsa, a new Mexican casserole, I was in heaven.  Per Derek's request, we did happy hours/appetizers AND dinner down in the man cave/bar.  It was a fun little change.
give me all the margaritas.  I'll be happier when I'm enjoying them in the sunshine on my deck but oh well.

If I thought Saturday was bliss, I was wrong, Sunday was bliss.  The day started out with me thinking our house was crumbling, I quickly woke up and looked out the window and sigh, our house was not breaking down it was just my husband throwing snowballs at the master bedroom window.  Romeo/Juliet romantic, I guess.
But then I went downstairs to find him and Stella having a dance party AND him making me breakfast.  Better yet, one countertop stocked with breakfast beverage necessities.  Perfect, I grabbed a mimosa and headed over to the couch.

After breakfast, I abruptly realized I needed more hash browns for Mom's potato soup recipe AS I was going to put it in the crockpot so we loaded Stella up, I ran in the store and grabbed what I needed then we took her to her first visit to Pet Smart.

She peed all over the store.
We found where the accident stand was pretty quick.  Twice.
After we got home and I got two crockpots going and we cleaned the tornado that hit our kitchen (while Derek was making breakfast) we settled in for the rest of the afternoon on the couches and reruns of the OC, maybe a couple naps.
Finallllllly nothing to do.
We had my parents and brother, Davey (of course, Nash too) over for dinner last night.  I love crockpot meals because they came over around 6:30 and I barely had any preparing to do!  We flipped around between the golf match and the Oscars.

We took advantage of having Mom snap a family picture for us
